Job Description
  • Operates and maintains all process waste equipment including: providing technical services with diversified procedures and specialized standards in hazardous materials and wastes
  • Ensure that treated effluents meet all applicable safety levels before discharge
  • Produce Adhesive used in the MPS department with attention given to safety, quality and overall cost.
  • Conduct adhesive polymerizations.
  • Follow procedure for daily start up
  • Control equipment and product by computer.
  • Monitor and control the reactor
  • Prepare the holding tank
  • Know location of quench controls
  • Make PVA
  • Mix Defoamer
  • Control the Exotherm phase
  • Transfer adhesive into tanks.
  • Take samples of adhesive
  • Rinse lines and clean reactor
  • Prepare totes and fill with glue.
  • Clean out drum and tote lines
  • Take sample of extract from top of tanks for lab
  • Take totes to weigh by scale and store in chemical holding area
  • Make labels for totes with batch #, Tote ID, Weight, and place on tote(s)
  • Put empty monomer barrels and put into truck trailer
  • Unload chemical deliveries, forklift operation.
  • Manage adhesive inventory for coaters and outside customers.
  • Maintain process and equipment cleanliness / housekeeping / sanitation.
  • Record keeping, filing, data trending and analysis.
  • Manage process of Raw Material Inventory.
  • Perform some minor maintenance
  • Back-up Compounding / Waste-water functions.
  • Perform and/or assist with Quality Control Testing.
  • Perform other related duties and overtime as required.

Qualifications
  • Requires a thorough knowledge of equipment set up, adjustment, operating procedures, and a corresponding level of skill to set up, operate, and adjust the equipment
  • Able to set up, operate, and adjust the equipment, and in addition, diagnose, solve, and correct operating problems affecting the quality and timeliness of the service or product or function
  • May instruct junior level operators how to complete the required corrective adjustment
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, standard operating procedures and other related documents and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with internal and external customers.

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Ability to contribute positively to a team environment.

  • Ability to understand basic liquid storage/flow concepts (pipe fittings, water flow, on/off valves, etc.). Must be detailed. Able to lift up to 60lbs which includes bags and barrels.

  • Must be self-motivated.

  • Previous Batch Chemical Operators and/or coating experience in manufacturing environment preferred, but not required


Additional Information

The pay range for this role at the noted location is $18.69 to $26.78 per hour. The actual rate of pay offered may vary based upon, but not limited to: education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, shift, and location. In addition to base salary, depending on the role, overtime, shift differential, call-in, and stand-by pay.
