Job Summary
The OT 2 works as a journey-level therapist and is responsible for organizing, coordinating and implementing Occupational Therapy services to patients as assigned by the Occupational Therapy supervisor. The OT 2 has experienced a variety of clinical settings and have successfully demonstrated experience related to the ability to function with less direction. The OT 2 plans, evaluates and implements Occupational Therapy programs for patients with complex problems. The OT 2 demonstrates independent judgement related to documentation and patient related treatment issues. The OT 2 is expected to act as resource persons and provide clinical direction to entry level Occupational Therapists, assist in orientation of staff, and are expected to participate in training programs. - Must be a California Licensed Occupational Therapist (OT)
- Must have a valid American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) or UC Davis Health CPR
- Demonstrated experience after licensure (1 year minimum) of working with adults in inpatient rehabilitation, skilled nursing (SNF), acute care, or a long-term acute care hospital (LTACH)
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills of occupational therapy theory and practices as evidenced by several years clinical experience
- Ability to perform all responsibilities of a licensed occupational therapist as required and assigned by Leadership
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to communicate ideas and relate well with staff and patients in order to work as a team member
- Willingness to assist other staff members with their caseloads
- Professional competency in occupational therapy evaluation techniques; such as range of motion testing, muscle testing, cognitive/ perceptual testing, activities of daily living evaluation, sensory testing, use of standardized testing of upper extremity function
- Professional competency in occupational therapy treatment modalities including activities of daily living and transfer training, strengthening, coordination, balance, range of motion, perceptual/cognitive skills training, wheelchair prescription, fabrication of splints and adapted devices
- Ability to establish and maintain good rapport with patients and their families
- Ability to train family in follow-through for home therapy programs; home visiting as necessary
- Ability to communicate clearly on a professional basis with physicians and work cooperatively with a variety of health care professionals
- Knowledge of requirements in processing for third-party payors
- Ability to write progress notes, discharge plans, and other written reports as requested
- Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate scheduling of patients in assigned areas of responsibility
- Ability to organize time
- Ability to be flexible and cooperative
- Ability to verbally communicate pertinent information and knowledge of the profession for training and educating other hospital service personnel
- Ability to organize training material
- Skill in organizing written material
- Knowledge of appropriate information required for patient and supply record keeping
Preferred Qualifications
- American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) Clinical Educator Certification
- Demonstrated experience with neurological diagnoses (job or student rotation)

Department Overview The primary purpose of the Joint Venture Rehabilitation Hospital is to provide a full range of rehabilitation services designed to restore patients to their optimal functional capacity. The hospital is a 52-bed rehabilitation hospital on the Sacramento medical center campus. It is equipped with leading-edge amenities and adaptive units where patients can practice typical activities of daily living. The rehabilitation hospital also includes a 12-bed brain injury unit and four private rooms for bariatric patients. POSITION INFORMATION
