Rutgers University-Newark, an urban public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise, is seeking a Personnel Manager. Reporting to the Senior Associate Dean for Academic Planning &Administration, this position supports Rutgers Law School (
RLS), located on two campuses of Rutgers University (Camden and Newark). This position serves as the lead administrator responsible for the management and oversight of human resource functions for
RLS.
This position is responsible for and not limited to the following:
- Resolves a diverse range of problems consistent with an understanding of the mission, roles, and goals of RLS and with a comprehensive understanding of management principles, applicable regulations, and university policies and procedures
- Develops, implements, and recommends best practices and standard operating procedures for all human resources functions
- Provides timely, strategic, and accurate advice to supervisors and senior leaders throughout RLS with regard to University Human Resources policies and procedures and implements management decisions regarding personnel actions
- Oversees compliance with regulatory and statutory employment guidelines and must occasionally travel between campus locations (Camden and Newark) 2-4 days per month

Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. The flexible work arrangements outlined in Rutgers Policy 60.3.22 are part of a pilot program that is effective September 1, 2022 through August 31, 2024. Therefore, there is no guarantee that this flexible work arrangement will continue beyond that date. Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- Requires a bachelor's degree in a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates comprehensive knowledge and understanding of management and administrative principles and practices
- Requires a minimum of five years of directly related experiences of increasing responsibility in a leadership or managerial role that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of human resources, and strategic planning

- Possesses higher education experience
- Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills and demonstrated ability to maintain cordial working relationships with a diverse population of faculty and staff is essential

Immunization Requirements
