Overview
The Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O) employs a workforce of approximately 2,700 staff, represented by 15 collective negotiations agreements, and is responsible for institutional strategic initiatives and operations, which encompasses an expansive range of comprehensive service and business operations across the State of New Jersey. These include planning and construction, facilities, public safety and emergency operations, environmental health and safety, transportation, housing, and auxiliary/retail operations.
Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Utilities Operation Worker for the division of Institutional Planning and Operations.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Will be required to perform manual duties which are but no limited to: excavation hand work, scaffolding erection, general maintenance, painting, trench shoring installation, and working with other trades when required.
  • Will also be required to have general operational knowledge of sewer jetting and vacuum unit, skid steer, trencher, compaction equipment, telehandler, and snow removal equipment.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience

  • High/vocational school education or equivalent.
  • A minimum of three (3) years documented experience in utility and excavation experience.


Certifications/Licenses


  • CDL license with A endorsement
  • Will be required to successfully complete the Rutgers Defensive Driving Course.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Good communication skills, the ability to follow detailed instructions from other trades when required.
  • The ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, must be able to follow and understand utility mark out designations.
