Posting Summary |
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Unit Computing Specialist for Technical Support.
Among the key duties of the position are the following:
- Provides in-person as well as remote as required technical support.
- Engages and works with all departments and staff within the Division of Continuing Studies.
- Works directly with both credit and noncredit faculty and instructors as needed to ensure in-person, remote and hybrid instruction continues w/out interruption.
- Provides hardware support for both Apple and Windows devices, device deployments, computer lab imaging, printer management, virus and malware support as well as any other technical assignments as directed by the Unit Computing Manager.
- Resolves new or ongoing support tickets from our online Helpdesk application.
- Provides support for remote tool usage, such as staff needing assistance with Zoom or WebEX.
- Provides moderation assistance or tool support for noncredit courses or other administrative or educational remote engagement needs.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or work experience dealing directly with end user technical support.

Certifications/Licenses |

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities |
- Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and recommend repairs to consumer computing equipment.
- Strong understanding of consumer and desktop computer equipment, both Windows and Apple platforms.
- Ability to diagnose hardware problems and recommend solutions to ensure equipment is maintained and utilized to be effectively usable luring its budgeted lifecycle.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Certifications or qualifications on desktop or consumer hardware.
- Two (2) years of hands on work experience dealing directly with end user technical support.
