The Office of International Affairs

Job Description

The UMKC International Student Affairs Office (ISAO) is now accepting applications for a detail-oriented Senior Enrollment Advisor. This position is different from a traditional domestic admissions position, as most of the student interaction will be done digitally.

The Senior Enrollment Advisor will work alongside a small team of international education professionals to guide international students through the university admissions process from inquiry to orientation and beyond. There is a significant amount of work that is done online, successful applicants will be comfortable with technology and data entry. The right person for this position will be driven by a desire to serve students, and have a passion for international education.

UMKC is currently home to nearly 1,200 international students from over 80 different countries. Join us in contributing to UMKC's tradition of academic excellence, diversity, and community.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Evaluates and processes graduate, undergraduate, professional, and non-degree applications
  • Reviews international and domestic transcripts for GPA, degree equivalency, authenticity, and recognition
  • Answer emails and contribute to weekly zoom sessions to guide prospective students though the application process
  • Maintains open and professional communication with all those involved in the international admission process including but not limited to prospective and current students, UMKC staff and faculty members, and outside campus partners
  • Understands and adheres to student visa regulations especially related to I-20 creation and issuance.
  • Understands and adheres to US student privacy laws (FERPA)
  • Contribute to international programing as needed, particularly International Student Orientation twice per year
  • Represent the university at recruitment events domestically or internationally as needed
Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong professional communication skills (phone, email, etc.)
  • Strong intercultural communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with non-native English speakers
  • International education experience and/or experience living abroad
  • Experience working with Slate CRM software
  • Experience working with SEVP and USCIS regulations
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in a foreign language common to UMKC's international population such as Arabic, Farsi, Chinese, or Vietnamese
Anticipated Hiring Range

$18.50 - $20.00 per hour commensurate with experience, education, and internal equity.
