The Manager, Network & Data Center Infrastructure is responsible for leading, designing, maintaining, and monitoring network and data center operations that support the research and administrative activities of HJF. This role functions under the guidance of the CTO, who establishes general guidelines and overall priorities. The incumbent manages a team of engineers, establishes work priorities, sets schedules, and determines goals, using discretion and informed judgment. This position will be in support of The Office of the CIO.

The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine. We serve military, medical, academic and government clients by administering, managing and supporting preeminent scientific programs that benefit members of the armed forces and civilians alike. Since its founding in 1983, HJF has served as a vital link between the military medical community and its federal and private partners. HJF's support and administrative capabilities allow military medical researchers and clinicians to maintain their scientific focus and accomplish their research goals.


Responsibilities

  • Supervise the design, maintenance, development, and support of all network and network security systems including LANs/WLANs/WANs, cloud networks, Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) technologies, and other data communication systems.
  • Oversee data center management including capacity planning, rack space, environmental controls, and redundancy systems.
  • Coordinate with GIS (Global Information Security) and GRC (Governance, Risk, and Compliance) teams to ensure network security compliance.
  • Work in conjunction with solution architects and system engineers to provide the best performance and availability for HJF systems and networks.
  • Establish and document procedures and work instructions for network management, operations, and security.
  • Properly document and diagram HJF network and data center infrastructure.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Assigned Lead: May recommend the following: employee hiring, disciplinary action, and starting salaries; provide input on employee performance evaluations.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related field is required. Master's Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 9-10 years experience required.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong proficiency in network and network security engineering with demonstratable knowledge of designing, implementing, and managing secure, scalable, and reliable wired/wireless networks.
  • Extensive experience in Cisco firewall, router, and switch administration.
  • Experience deploying Access Service Edge (SASE) technologies including SD-WAN, Cloud Secure Web Gateways, Cloud Access Security Brokers, and Zero Trust Network Access.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure Networking services including Azure Firewall, Azure Application Gateway, and Azure VPN Gateway.
  • Experience with data center infrastructure management (DCIM) including power and cooling capacity planning.
  • Exceptional analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Experience with ITIL methodology.
  • Knowledge of NIST SP 800-171 and the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC).

Physical Capabilities

  • Lifting: Requires lifting materials over 25 lbs.
  • Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods.

Work Environment

  • This position will take place primarily in an office setting.

Compensation

  • The annual salary range for this position is $100,500-$155,000. Actual salary will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
