Job Description: ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Maintains clean, sanitary work areas. As required, greets clients and/or visitors, serves them meals, or provides them with requested directions or assistance. Prepares, seasons, and cooks food; carves and portions meat, fish or foul for individual servings. Plans menus for clients, visitors, and staff; determines type of food to order; estimates quantity of food to order; and plans use of leftovers. Trains and monitors clients assigned to kitchen duties.
The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by incumbents of this job. Incumbents may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description. EDUCATION
- High School diploma or equivalency is required
- Successful completion of sanitation course and certification test provided by the Louisville Metro Health Department within the first six months of employment.
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum one-year's food service experience in a commercial/health care facility.
- Knowledge of basic kitchen equipment for safe use and sanitation.
- Ability to read, follow and interpret basic written and oral instructions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/REQUIREMENTS
- Position requires lifting 50 pounds maximum, with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Involves considerable bending, stooping, and standing in the regular performance of tasks, including safe operation of equipment needed to perform job duties.
- Routine exposure to moderate heat, cold, moisture/wetness, and air pollution.
- May involve routine exposure to light chemical substances such as cleaning solutions.
- May require 24-hour on-call responsibilities.
