As the Special Projects Manager, you will utilize engineering concepts to design, improve, and revise existing products to meet customer objectives and the product management portfolio. You will manage multiple engineering projects simultaneously. You'll be responsible for designs throughout the life cycle of the product to include all engineering documentation and sustainment activities. You'll also help to develop and improve our manufacturing processes with an emphasis on the hardware and software integration necessary for new technology integration and machine automation, real-time data analysis and data collection. You will leverage your programming skills in languages such as C, C#, C++, Visual and Java and your knowledge of lean manufacturing tools, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and CAD skills.


Essential Job Functions

  • Manage engineering projects.
  • Perform process automation and data collection through various I/O tools .
  • Utilize your programming skills to solve problems.
  • Interact with Sales, the Business Office, and customers for design, development, and project support.
  • Create and improve manufacturing processes to meet product needs and supporting manufacturing in nonconformance root cause and corrective actions.
  • Support Lean Manufacturing and Visual Management initiatives.
  • Recommend and provide cost estimates for process changes when current capabilities are lacking.
  • Estimate tooling and process costs and manage project budgets


  • Assist in the Integration of different levels of SCADA & ignition systems to existing processes to monitor and record key process parameters, simplify operator machine control as well as aid in analyzing and troubleshooting activities.


  • Design and cost cable assemblies including but not limited to material selection, optical requirements, electrical requirements, mechanical requirements, manufacturability, and testing.
  • Develop Bills of Materials, routings, engineering and material specifications.
  • Improve and revise product designs, coordinate changes across multiple departments.
  • Create and revise engineering specifications and documentation in support of product development and sustainment.
  • Coordinate with the Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, and Supply Chain teams to align testing requirements, machine capabilities, design specifications, and communicate engineering changes and material needs.



REQUIREMENTS

This position is subject to the requirements of the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or Export Administration Regulations (EAR), as such, applicants must be a U.S. person defined as a citizen, national, U.S. lawful permanent resident, person granted asylee status in the U.S., or person admitted into the U.S. as a refugee.

  • Bachelors' Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering required
  • Strong project management skills
  • Knowledge of implementing automated and semiautomated software solutions
  • Basic Programming skills required: Medium to Advance skills (C, C#, C++, Visual, Java).
  • Experience with managing multiple engineering projects from start to finish.
  • Software Experience; CAD and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Working knowledge of lean manufacturing tools
  • PLC knowledge
  • Experience with process automation and data collection through various I/O tools
  • 4+ years of experience in manufacturing, preferred
  • Must be able to work in a hands-on environment, interacting closely with manufacturing operators and supervision as well as the maintenance crews.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proactive ability to anticipate questions and ensure high quality products
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment with multiple changing priorities.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work setting is a typical manufacturing environment that requires the use of personal protective equipment including steel toed shoes, safety glasses, and hearing protection. Manufacturing areas may be affected by outside temperatures and machining.
