SUMMARY:

This is a technical manager position for AMD's central Design Verification (DV) Methodology team. The candidate is expected to have technical knowledge and hands on work experience on CAD/EDA methodology in DV and will manage a team of technical contributors. This AMD central team delivers verification methodology related technologies for all AMD project projects and product lines. This manager position will be working with global teams on the verification methodologies and technologies covering design technology, functional verification technology, coverage, debug, verification infrastructure such as VIPs, formal verification, and some complex design description and automation methodologies, and apply AI techniques where applicable. The position also requires technical management of EDA vendors.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The successful candidate will assume technical management responsibilities and hands-on technical architect role responsible for providing complex design methodologies in the hardware design verification space. The following is a list of key responsibilities that the candidate will assume:

  • Be a part of a wider team of technical experts in design verification methodologies and testbenches in AMD's Central R&D team driving change
  • Be hands on technical management contributor in the space of hardware description languages such as Verilog and SystemVerilog and an expert in digital design and verification
  • Play an expert technical manager role in verification methodologies and have extensive knowledge and multi-year hands on experience in random-based design verification
  • Drive methodology around Verification IPs, UVCs and bus functional models for AMD's internal IPs
  • Provide technical management to a formal verification methodologies team
  • Make use of Machine Learning in all areas of contribution
  • Provide methodologies on logic functional verification technology and methodology (UVM)
  • Have knowledge of Verification Management tools and methodologies
  • Apply generative AI-driven methodologies where applicable and find new ways to improve time to market for AMD products
  • Additional skillset that is desirable is around transactors relevant to emulation flows
  • Play a strong technical management role in understanding AMD's existing systems, creating new ones, defining roadmaps, creating novel methodologies around DV and VIPs, UVCs, BFMs
  • Collaborate with EDA vendors for weekly syncs, tool trainings, evaluation and deployment and drive EDA vendors toward common solutions across AMD
  • Lead a high-performance engineering team
  • Form a team and nurture talents
  • Lead team, meet schedule commitments and provide strong support to various customers
  • Collaborate with multi-functional leaders to drive AMD's success

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Hands-on deep technical industry experience with Verilog, testbench, UVM a must and strong understanding of digital electronic design and design verification processes
  • Some experience with managing a technical team
  • Versatility in verification methodology like UVM as well as knowledge of industry standard tools for DV, testbenches, VIPs, etc. expected
  • Some knowledge of formal verification as applied to hardware design verification
  • Be aware of the latest developments in the industry on Design Verification topics
  • An insatiable hunger for knowledge growth and learning new topics such as machine learning and artificial intelligence and apply in applicable areas of work
  • Must possess Strong interpersonal and communication skills and needs to be a team player
  • Knowledge in EDA industry tools and standard software development practices such as sprint and agile
  • Additional plus would be knowledge of Verilog, C, C++, Perl, Python, Ruby, and other scripting languages; experience with TCL is a plus; IP-XACT knowledge a plus
  • Emulation and/or simulation acceleration experience is another plus
  • A strong leader with experience working with a distributed team
  • Strong mentoring and coaching skills
  • Proven experience managing and leading engineering teams
  • Strong communications skills. Able to summarize complex problems for executive as well as drill down to details with architects and engineers
  • Strong analytic and problem-solving skills including the ability to analyze current behavior, identify potential areas for improvement and design of experiments
  • Must be a self-starter and self-motivated

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Bachelors or Masters or PhD degree in computer engineering/Electrical Engineering
