Responsibilities

Texoma Medical Center, a 414-bed acute care facility has been providing quality health care to the residents of North Texas and Southern Oklahoma since 1965. Our main campus is located in Denison, Texas, approximately one hour north of the Dallas/Fort Worth area and just south of the Texas/Oklahoma border. The OR Tech is responsible for knowledge of anatomy and physiology of surgical sites. Passes instruments on all procedures or acts as an assistant and hold retractors as needed. Practices aseptic technique. Assist in preparation of room prior to surgery and cleaning room after surgery. Assists staff and surgeons to insure instruments, supplies, and equipment are available when needed for surgical procesures. Has two (2) years experience in the Operating Room as a scrub tech. Works in instrument room as needed. Takes assigned call as required. Exhibits knowledge of age specific needs of patients of all psychosocial, and/or cultural backgrounds. Integrally involved and participates with cost containment issues in the Operating Room.


Qualifications

Requires the completion of an accredited Surgical Technician program or the candidate must provide documented proof of previous (before September 1, 2009) employment as a surgical technologist. Must have CST (Certified Surgical Tech) upon hire or be a LVN with scrub tech experience. Or was employed to practice surgical technology in a health care facility before September 1, 2009. Must obtain CPR within 30 days of employment. Must be able to read and comprehend information related to perioperative operations within the job class. Minimum computer literacy in keyboarding and microsoft windows.Communicate effectively,identify and address the special needs of patients of all age groups.
