St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Technology Plant Infrastructure and Data Center Operations Services. This pivotal role will oversee the planning, implementation, and maintenance of the campus' inside plant (ISP) and outside plant (OSP) technology infrastructure, as well as data center operations. The ideal candidate will ensure the highest levels of performance, security, and reliability to support the St Jude Children's Research Hospital's mission of advancing cures and means of prevention for pediatric catastrophic diseases. This position requires a strong background in IT infrastructure, data center management, and leadership.

This position may be eligible for the possibility of remote work.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategic plans for ISP and OSP technology infrastructure and data center operations in alignment with the hospital's goals and objectives.
  • Lead and manage large/critical complex IT areas/teams within the department, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee the design, deployment, and maintenance of ISP and OSP infrastructure, including fiber optics, cabling, and related hardware.
  • Ensure the reliability, scalability, and security of data center operations, including server management, storage solutions, and network infrastructure.
  • Implement best practices for disaster recovery, business continuity, and data protection.
  • Monitor and manage the performance of data center operations, ensuring optimal uptime, efficiency, and resource utilization.
  • Develop and enforce policies, procedures, and standards for infrastructure management and data center operations.
  • Manage budgets, negotiate contracts with vendors, and ensure cost-effective use of resources.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends, leading initiatives to integrate new technologies and solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and best practices for IT infrastructure and data center operations.

Minimum Education / Training:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, engineering, business or related field of study required.
  • Relevant BICSI certifications (e.g., RCDD, RTPM, DCDC) are highly preferred.
  • Additional relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, ITIL, CDCP) are a plus.

Minimum Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience in an IT functional area including experience leading mid-large teams with focus on both achievement of objectives as well as critical skill-building, preferably in IT infrastructure management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven experience in managing ISP and OSP infrastructure and data center operations in a complex, mission-critical environment.
  • Experience having led large-scale projects/processes through to implementation.
  • Experience with operational management, budget planning & vendors, and resource management.
  • Proven performance in earlier role/comparable role.

Special Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of network architecture, server management, storage solutions, and data center best practices.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, negotiate contracts, and optimize resource utilization.
  • Ability to propose innovative IT capabilities and oversee their implementation and adoption.
  • Strong understanding of disaster recovery, business continuity, and data protection best practices.
  • Ability to stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends.
  • Thorough understanding of compliance and relevant regulations, standards, and best practices for ISP and OSP infrastructure and data center operations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to conduct regular assessments and audits to identify areas for improvement.

Compensation

In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $138,320 - $262,080 per year for the role of Director -Technical Plant Infrastructure.
