Position Summary: The Assistant Community School Director (ACSD) is responsible for assisting the Community School Director in the oversight/management and direct supervision of all activities, programs and services implemented within the SU Campus Community School, which serves two public schools - MS322 (grades 6th - 8th) and City College Academy for the Arts MS293 (grades 6th -12th). The ACSD supervises specific program components such as the Data Input and Outcomes unit, Success Mentorship, 21st Century Learning Center, SONYC after-school, holiday, summer camp, and TEENS programs.

Essential Duties:



  • Assisting in the oversight and management of all programs (health, dental, mental health, specialty services, parent engagement, adult literacy, and projects).
  • Assure various programs are carried out within the context of partnership and collaboration.
  • Develops, maintains, and nurtures relationships with the school administration to operationalize the partnership. Participate in Children's Aid and school governance structures, such as School Leadership Teams.
  • Contribute to planning the direction of the Community School by conducting ongoing planning assessments and staff evaluations.
  • Assist in the hiring, management, development, supervision and evaluation of full and part time staff.
  • Plan and implement regular staff meetings, ongoing professional development, and orientations.
  • Develops programs that aim to increase educational opportunities and social connections for both children and families.
  • Contributes to the development and enhancement of parental involvement in the schools through the use of dedicated activities in the family room, classes and events.
  • Contribute to ensuring that all administrative and fiscal matters (hiring, payroll, fees, petty cash, budget, etc.) are carried out
  • Represents school in community meetings and events.
  • Ensures compliance with all government funded contract outcomes, workshops, and reports.
  • Carry out the operational plan for existing programs and new initiatives.
  • Act as a liaison and point of contact to the New York Times Needs cases for families.
  • Key member of the site's management team, participates in Technical Assistance activities.
  • Work closely with the Office of Performance Management and the Youth Division's Director of Strategic Impact to ensure the accuracy and integrity of all data systems.
  • Attend database management trainings as required by funders and/or division leadership.
  • Understand program goals, monitor progress towards meeting these goals, and communicate this progress to program leadership on a regular basis.
  • Contribute to annual presentation for administrators (OCS Collaborative Planning, NYSAN) on each program's assessment information.
  • Assist in overseeing the site's Youth Services Information System (CSIS) management and responsible for ensuring data entry for all program components SONYC afterschool, holiday, Teens In Action, Adult Literacy, SU Campus summer camp, parent and community engagement programs.
  • Assist with the preparation and submission of workscopes for SONYC M.S. 322, SONYC M.S. 293, Adult Literacy, including all contracts that require workscopes.
  • Work collaboratively with Office of Performance Management to address inquiries regarding information sharing and to trouble shoot concerns that arise with data systems glitches.
  • Assume a supervisory role in support of the afterschool when key administrators are out of the building for meetings, conferences and leave of absence.
  • Translation of program information, flyers for Health Fair and the Thanksgiving Dinner, parent letters, Mind in the Making handouts, Power Point Presentations for parent workshops and the like for distribution to parents and community members.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned by his/her supervisor or a member of Children's Aid senior management
  • Assist in day to day operations of the division/program as needed


Minimum Qualifications:



  • Bachelor Degree in Social Work, Education, or related field required
  • At least five years' of administrative experience and supervision of staff
  • Proficient in the English and Spanish language

  • Master's degree preferred
