Posting Summary |
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Professional/Research/Manager Seasonal for the School of Engineering. Dr. Vazquez lab is seeking applications for a researcher to develop a self-contained microfluidic system that uses multiple inlet flow rates to examine cell clotting and cell to cell communication in response to chemical agents.
Among the key duties of the position are the following:
- Manufactures the system, connects it to the microscope setup, and gathers real time data of clotting across the system membrane.
- Experiments will require manufacturing with acrylic as well as microscope imaging on an incubated microscope stage.
- Statistical analysis and presentation of data is required.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- Master's degree in biomedical engineering or related field plus three years of related experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities |
- Knowledge of microfluidics and manufacturing as well as experience with cell culture, imaging, and molecular assays (such as ELISA).
- Ability to troubleshoot the microfluidic system and experiments to obtain data with statistical significance and relevance to biomedical engineering.
- Understanding of cell to cell communication as well as performing live cell optical imaging for continuous time periods.
- Ability to develop an operations manual for the system as well as a technical publication describing engineering results.

- The researcher must perform experiments in a wet-laboratory with required knowledge of safety protocols.
- The work environment requires biosafety level II access and experience to maintain aseptic protocols for live cells in a shared laboratory.
