Primary Purpose: Oversees all inspection, repair, modification, and maintenanceactivities for locomotives and/or cars. Principal Duties: - Monitors quality of repair to locomotives and/or cars to assure high reliability of locomotive and/or car fleet. - Works with control center on scheduling of locomotives in & out ofshop & all train movements to minimize delays to trains & shopproduction. - Provides training to subordinates. - Ensures all procedures & instructions relating to environmentalmatters are adhered to by employees. - Ensures quality issues are addressed and that work performed at alllocations is in accordance with requirements. - Ensures employees carry out this work within the parameters ofFederal, State, & Corporate Safety Regulations, thus requiringcomplete familiarization with these statutes & rules. - Keeps records of locomotive and/or car work performed on their shiftand makes recommendations for improvements in procedure, shopequipment, or facilities to assure maximum safety, production, andlocomotive and/or car performance.
