AMERICAN SYSTEMS is seeking a highly experiencedSeniorLinux Systems Administratorto provide expert technical support for the software, hardware, wired network infrastructure, and system security of Linux systems in aHigh-Performance Computing (HPC) Environment. As a SeniorLinux Systems Administrator, you will:

A week in the life of a SeniorLinux Systems Administrator:
- Plan, coordinate, and install software applications and hardware in a distributed Linux platform.
- Provide system administration and configuration of specialized mission applications and software.
- Optimize the functionality and performance of hardware and software systems.
- Ensure availability, integrity, efficiency, and reliability of servers, workstations, and data storage systems (Lustre, Bright Cluster)
- Implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery plans and capabilities for all critical mission systems.
- Develop and maintain system administration standard operating procedures, technical guides, and instructions.
- Install, support, and maintain server operating systems and software (Google Tensorflow, PostgreSQL)
- Plan for authorized service interruptions and outages.
- Respond to unexpected or unauthorized service interruptions and outages.
- Diagnose software and hardware failures to resolution.
- Implement and ensure security preventive measures are fully functioning.
- Monitor and enhance system performance.
- Test operating system and software upgrades, patches, and hot fixes before they are applied to the operational systems.
- Create and test backups of data, provide data cleansing services, verify data integrity, implement access controls.
- Assist developers of data exposure services with engagement of the database.
- Implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery capabilities for all identified critical mission systems.
Job Requirements
- Active Top Secret clearancew/SCI eligibility
- IAT IILevel Certification(e.g.,Security+ CE, CCNA-Security,CySA+, GICSP,GSEC, CND, SSCP)
- Bachelor's degree in STEM discipline (or 4 additional years of experience in lieu of degree)
- 10+ years of experience in IT Systems Administration with:
- 5+ years in Linux administration demonstrating knowledge of containerization (Podman/Docker), Ansible, and OpenLDAP
- Ability to configure mount points, add and expand hard disk space, make drives persistent, and implement NFS drives
- Capable of performingbackup procedures using tar and gzip,configuring log management, and analyzing logs
- Experienced with implementing DoD STIGs, configuringSELinux and setting proper SE contexts
- Experienced with VMware vSphere (version 7 or above)
- Proficient in BASH and/or Python scripting
- Familiarity with PostgreSQL databases
- Possess a Red Hat Linux or Linux Server OS certification (RHSCA or RHCE) within 6 months of hire
NOTE: Qualified candidates with currentRed Hat certifications (RHCSA or RHCE) will be given preference. AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary/hourly range for this position is $160,000-180,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
