This Co-Op position will be from January to August 2025 with or without reasonable accommodation

Upon completion of construction, the individual selected for this role will primarily work at the new Sherwin-Williams Global Technology Center in Brecksville, Ohio. Construction is expected to be complete in Q4 2024. Until then, the role will be based at Breen Technology Center, located at 601 Canal Road, Cleveland, OH 44113.

R&D Development



  • Works with the platform team and raw material team to analyze paints and resins
  • Perform materials science analysis (rheology, thermal analysis, surface tension etc.)
  • Make and formulate paint as necessary per the project requirements
  • Perform paint testing
  • Learns multiple polymer chemistry types
  • Completes lab notebook and follows documentation procedures
  • Completes experiments in a design


Safety



  • Uses safe process techniques and good housekeeping
  • Follows ITM's and safety guidelines
  • Wears proper PPE
  • Attends all safety meetings or takes the make-up test
  • Sustains 5S


Job duties include contact with other employees and access confidential and proprietary information and/or other items of value, and such access may be supervised or unsupervised. The Company therefore has determined that a review of criminal history is necessary to protect the business and its operations and reputation and is necessary to protect the safety of the Company's staff, employees, and business relationships.

Education



  • Must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor's Degree program in Science, Technology Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
  • Current sophomore, Junior or Senior in college or university at the start of the internship program


Preferred



  • Chemistry or Chemical Engineering Major
  • 2.8 GPA or higher


Knowledge & Experience



  • Skilled at Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Must have access to local housing as well as reliable transportation
  • Must be willing to work up to 40 hours per week for a total of from January to August with or without reasonable accommodation


Preferred



  • Experience working with formulation chemistry, analytical, rheology, and thermal analyses
