Job Description Summary

Performs Sintering and convecool process and GQS verifications. Performs preventative maintenance tasks and assist in major maintenance tasks. Identify & troubleshoot process problems. Assist in development of Sintering Technician 1.

This position will report directly to the Maintenance Supervisor.

Job Description

Reviews inspection reports and Pass on logs to identify current & prior process & product issues.

Completes process inspections as designated on the control plan. Aids in troubleshooting of process and product problems.

Communicates daily with Supervisor, Compaction personnel, Forging personnel, and other technicians on process problems, product problems, and non-conformities.

Participates in product and process improvement activities with other production, maintenance and engineering personnel by providing process or failure information, as needed or required.

Comply with all procedures & instructional documents concerning daily operations.

Proficient in setup, use, and verification of atmosphere monitoring devices.

Performs routine housekeeping tasks of work area

Performs required maintenance and preventative tasks, such as the changing & cutting furnace belts, changing thermocouples, with assistance of maintenance change and or balance glo-bars.

Assist maintenance in all major furnace's repairs including muffle changes and any additional furnace maintenance.

Follows departmental procedures and work instructions. Performs duties of training, as assigned or required.

Knowledgeable of SDS, quality and environmental policies along with their location to access and review them. Must be able to perform Overtime as required.

Perform layered audits as required

Active in LEAN initiatives, 5S, and address safety issues as they arise

Maintains work area and equipment in a neat, clean and orderly condition, properly storing dunnage, supplies, materials, equipment, etc. (This includes area around equipment on the production floor as well as Maintenance Department). Completes records and forms as required by the job.

Always performs duties in a safe and efficient manner and reports all problems, irregularities or suggested corrective actions immediately to supervision.

Performs other miscellaneous duties as may be required or directed.

Required Skills and Education

A person in this position shall possess the minimum of a high school diploma (or equivalent, ie. GED) and equivalent experience accompanied with computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel. must display good written, verbal, problem solving and communication skills. Position requires basic knowledge of sintering process and operation of sintering furnaces. Knowledge of blueprint reading, and quality control procedures and testing equipment is needed.

Physical capabilities required of the individual involve ability to do heavy lifting (over 40 pounds) and exposure to heat from the furnaces.
