Overview

We're seeking a Payment Auditor to join our team! In this position, you'll be responsible for identifying insurance claims paid incorrectly. Payment Auditor functions will include, but not limited to, building and maintaining all payor contracts within the Decision Support System, working with the payors to collect all under-payments that exist, and developing Payment Audit Performance Reports listing Underpayment Reason and Payment Audit errors by contract and facility.

Location: This position is open to remote/work from home with strong preference for candidates residing within the UPH geographies of Iowa, Illinois, & Wisconsin.

Responsibilities

What You'll Do:

Identifying Incorrectly Paid Claims:

  • Identify accounts paid incorrectly based on contracts with the payor
    • Review accounts on the workqueues in Epic
    • Work from regular reporting to identify underpayments
  • Document the underpayment in Epic
  • Work with payor contracting and the payors to recover underpayments. The amount collected will be monitored and communicated to management.
  • Act as a resource to answer questions relating to reimbursement issues and payment terms for patient populations

Qualifications

What You'll Need:

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED.

Experience

  • Requires 3 years health care experience, or comparable education and experience.
  • Knowledge of medical billing and terminology required.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Proficiency in use of report writing software.
  • Able to manipulate and analyze large amounts of data.
