SUMMARY

The Office Support Person performs general Clerical/Secretarial functions in support of the Admissions/Discharge Department. These functions include such tasks as: answering the telephone, taking messages, typing, working with the Montgomery County Correctional Facility computer network, and using the Xerox machine/other common business machines. The Office Support Person will assist the Admissions/Discharge Supervisor and the Correctional Staff assigned to the Admissions/Discharge Department, with whatever clerical duties are needed.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Office Support Person is responsible to input all required information into the MCCF computer network. This includes the entry of the new commitments name, charges, booking number and basic personal data.

  • The Office Support Person will be responsible to prepare all assigned reports, lists or other required documentation.
  • The Office Support Person may be asked to help the correctional staff or other personnel in order to maintain the smooth and orderly completion of office responsibilities. These responsibilities may include typing, photocopying, filing and other clerical duties.
  • The Office Support Person will be required to coordinate with many outside agencies including the Clerk of Courts, District Attorney's Office and Local District Justices. The incumbent must be well versed in Facility procedures as well as local court procedures.

  • The Office Support Person must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent;

  • The ability to type at a minimum of 50 words per minute is essential;

  • Skill in using Microsoft Word and other basic computer operation abilities is beneficial;

  • The ability to speak and write effectively is required; especially when dealing with the public;

  • Knowledge of the criminal justice system is an asset.
