Subject Matter Expert (SME) - Introduction to Python, DevOps, and AI-Ready Practices for Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (Online Course Development)

Position Type: Contract

Compensation: $3,000

Location: Remote

Position Overview: We are looking for a forward-thinking Subject Matter Expert (SME) to design a transformative "Introduction to Python, DevOps, and AI-Ready Practices" course. This course is part of our Bachelor of Science in Computer Science program and is structured to empower students with the Python programming and DevOps knowledge needed to thrive in the era of AI-enhanced development and cloud-driven infrastructure.

The SME will work closely with our instructional design team to create an 8-week online course that not only teaches foundational Python and DevOps principles but also incorporates the essentials for AI-readiness, such as automation, version control, continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD), and cloud infrastructures. The ideal candidate will ensure course objectives prepare students for future-focused roles in software development, DevOps, and AI applications in tech operations.

This role is ideal for an innovative professional passionate about bridging DevOps, Python, and AI-readiness in education. If you're ready to impact the next generation of tech professionals, we invite you to apply.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Innovative Curriculum Development: Design course modules that introduce students to Python and DevOps, along with frameworks that prepare them for AI-augmented development practices. Emphasize the role of DevOps in AI workflows, including data pipelines and model deployment.
  • Content Creation: Develop interactive learning materials, assignments, quizzes, and coding exercises that address students at varying skill levels. Include real-world AI and DevOps case studies, emphasizing CI/CD, cloud integration, and containerization for scalability.
  • Learning Outcomes Alignment: Align content with both foundational DevOps/Python skills and AI-optimized practices. Learning outcomes should ensure students acquire hands-on skills relevant to emerging tech and AI-driven environments.
  • Collaboration with Instructional Designers: Partner with instructional designers to produce online content that is engaging and incorporates best practices for virtual learning in high-tech fields.
  • Assessment Development: Create formative and summative assessments, including hands-on projects, coding labs, and simulations of real-world scenarios, preparing students for environments where DevOps and AI intersect.
  • Content Review and Industry Alignment: Keep course materials updated to reflect the latest in DevOps and AI technology standards, with insights from industry developments to ensure graduates are ready for roles in an AI-centric tech landscape.

Required Qualifications:

  • Educational Background: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Industry Experience: 3+ years of experience in Python, DevOps, and AI-integrated practices, with expertise in tools like Git, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes, cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), and an understanding of AI deployment in DevOps.
  • Teaching/Training Experience: Prior experience as an SME, instructor, or curriculum developer in higher education or corporate training is preferred.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in Python, DevOps, and CI/CD pipelines, with an emphasis on AI-enhanced tools and AI operations (AIOps) practices.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal skills, with a focus on making complex topics accessible to diverse learners.
  • Collaboration Skills: Ability to work with instructional designers and contribute to an iterative course development process.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in online course development, especially asynchronous/hybrid models.
  • Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS) and course authoring tools, including AI-integrated features.
  • Certification in DevOps practices or AI frameworks is a plus (e.g., AWS DevOps Engineer, Docker Certified Associate, AI/ML certification).
