The Position
Job TitleSystems Engineer II - Core Banking
Job Description
SUMMARY We are looking for a Systems Engineer II with a focus around Core Banking, to join the First United Bank IT Team, in our McKinney, Texas office. The Systems Engineer II will focus on understanding business system technology needs and challenges, as well as ensure systems, processes and procedures align with technology best practices in support of the overall business strategy.The role will also require management of subject matter experts aligned to lines of business and the applications that support the business areas. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)
- Consult with business units and review IT usage, services, technology, and department specific projects to identify, forecast and develop IT needs.
- Assist in development of business case packets. Analyze and report operational and financial impacts of vendors, products and services.
- From concept exploration through deployment, the candidate shall be immersed in team collaboration to understand, execute, and deliver on customer expectation.
- Effectively communicates findings to business stakeholders who can affect change and demonstrates follow-through in helping the business to implement change.
- Manage and/or participate in core systems requirements, design, testing, training, implementation and support initiatives.
- Document results of activities using the appropriate processes in accordance with the Bank's documentation and project methodology standards.
- Ensures projects and work requests are implemented successfully with key milestone dates met.
- Coordinates roles, tasks, and delivery dates with key cross-functional departments and vendors.
- Maintain awareness and comply with current core architecture standards and processes.
- Participate in the analysis and evaluation of current core business and system processes, interfaces and workflow.
- Recommend changes and enhancements to improve operational efficiency.
- Integrate IT activities with business units and other operational departments to ensure successful implementation and support of project, work request, and production efforts.
- Provide second and/or third level support for daily maintenance of the core application including core system administration and resolution of issues.
- Build and maintain strong business unit relationships and develop in-depth knowledge of their business needs and systems to effectively support those needs.
- Works with executives and senior management to ensure the delivery of a consistent, trusted experience for both internal and external customers.
- Actively participates in resource planning and work prioritization, ensuring alignment with the needs of the business unit and IT.
- Assists in maintaining and enforcing IT policies. Documents standard operating procedures, workflows and systems.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participate in Change Control Committee
- Completes all required compliance exams on a yearly basis.
- Adherence to all First United Policies and Procedures.
- Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
- Dresses Professionally.
- Travel up to 10% of the time, possible

- Four-year college degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, Project Management or related field of study.
- 5+ years of work with a major core banking system acting as liaison between the business units, technical staff and/or system provider.
- 8+ years related experience
TECHNICAL/FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIES

- Comprehensive knowledge of IT infrastructure, applications, telecommunications or other assigned area of expertise
- Extensive knowledge of portfolio management and performance monitoring practices and methodologies
- Extensive knowledge of business finance principles
- Extensive knowledge of IT organizational practices
- Extensive knowledge of core banking platforms
- Experience with Jack Henry platforms preferred
- Ability to build, maintain and extend relationships across the organization
- Ability to perform business and process analysis
- Interpreting business needs / user scenarios / use cases into system requirements and design
- Software application/integration test planning and execution
- Software application release management

- Knowledge of Bank products and services.
- Highly competent in the use and training of all applicable Bank systems and programs.
