The Office of Medical Education is seeking applications for a Post-Clerkship - Integrated Science Selective Course Director - Cancer Biology at 0.10 FTE. The Integrated Science Selective Course Director for the University of Colorado School of Medicine is responsible for working with the Assistant Dean of Medical Education, Post-clerkship Curriculum, SOM faculty, departments, other curriculum deans and other SOM personnel to create, implement, evaluate, and continuously improve the medical student post-clerkship selective course. As part of the post-clerkship phase within the new medical school curriculum, third- and fourth-year students select and complete 1 Integrated Science Selective course during their post-clerkship phase. Integrated Science Selectives are 4-week courses for Post-clerkship/Advanced Medical Students that integrate biomedical and clinical science learning in various didactic and clinical settings to help students learn about cutting-edge science in a given field, provide a way of thinking about how to advance the edge of the evidence and advanced clinical care, and engage students in self-directed learning. Supervision Received: Reports directly to the Assistant Dean for Medical Education, Post-Clerkship Curriculum. Supervision Exercised: This position supervises faculty who teach within the course as well as provide dotted line supervision to SOM University staff who work to develop student and course schedules. Key Responsibilities: Administration
- Supervise and evaluate course faculty, including assigning work, providing performance feedback, and addressing performance issues or corrective actions.
- Oversee course execution by ensuring effective faculty orientation, scheduling, content delivery, assessment, and grading to meet student needs.
- Act as a communication resource for students, staff, and faculty, with a commitment to timely responses.
Curriculum Execution and Program Innovation
- Create and implement a curriculum to develop student curiosity, self-directed learning, and advanced scientific understanding, including synchronous and asynchronous learning materials, learner and faculty assessments, and course evaluations.
- Ensure all teaching faculty and students are aware and understand learning goals and objectives.
Curriculum Review, Continuous Quality Improvement, and Accreditation
- Continuously assess and improve course components by tracking performance and identifying areas for enhancement, collaborating with curriculum oversight bodies and the Office of Assessment, Evaluation, and Outcomes (AEO).
- Review course evaluations annually to provide faculty with feedback and support action plans for improvements in the following academic year.
Student Assessment and Grading
- Set clear expectations for student performance to support competency-based grading in the Critical Care Course.
- Support faculty in their grading and feedback process to ensure all students receive fair, and effective formative and summative assessments.
- Ensure all grades are submitted in a timely manner.
Faculty Recruitment, Support & Development
- Recruit and develop faculty to teach in the Course.
- Provide ongoing feedback, support, and remediation as needed to faculty.

Minimum Qualifications: This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Instructor, Senior Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor based on experience and qualifications as indicated below: Instructor:
- Direct clinical, or classroom, teaching in the last five years
- M.D. or D.O. Degree or equivalent with a concentration in healthcare and education and medical licensure in the State of Colorado.
- Candidates must be able to obtain a faculty appointment (Instructor) at the University of Colorado School of Medicine
Sr. Instructor:
- Direct clinical, or classroom, teaching in the last five years
- M.D. or D.O. Degree or equivalent with a concentration in healthcare and education and medical licensure in the State of Colorado.
- Candidates must be able to obtain a faculty appointment (Sr. Instructor) at the University of Colorado School of Medicine
Assistant Professor:
- Direct clinical, or classroom, teaching in the last five years
- M.D. or D.O. Degree or equivalent with a concentration in healthcare and education and medical licensure in the State of Colorado.
- Candidates must be able to obtain a faculty appointment (Assistant Professor) at the University of Colorado School of Medicine
Associate Professor:

Anticipated Pay Range:
|
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as
- Instructor- $10,000- $20,000 as 0.10 FTE equivalent in salary support plus benefits not to exceed the educational cap of $200,000.
- Sr. Instructor- $10,000- $20,000 as 0.10 FTE equivalent in salary support plus benefits not to exceed the educational cap of $200,000.
- Assistant Professor- $10,000- $20,000 as 0.05-0.10 FTE equivalent in salary support plus benefits not to exceed the educational cap of $200,000.
- Associate Professor- $10,000- $20,000 as 0.10 FTE equivalent in salary support plus benefits not to exceed the educational cap of $200,000.
- Professor- $10,000- $20,000 as 0.10 FTE equivalent in salary support plus benefits not to exceed the educational cap of $200,000.
