Job Purpose

Primarily responsible and accountable for timely and accurate filing of all North American indirect tax returns. The incumbent will have certain autonomy and decision making ability within reason with the authority to propose process improvements to facilitate accurate and timely tax filings and tax saving initiatives. Significant decisions will be discussed and reviewed by the Sr. Director - Global Tax

What you will do...

  • Serve as the main consultant and resource for indirect tax inquiries, managing the preparation and data review of transaction tax filings (sales/use tax, personal property tax, gross receipts, unclaimed property, business licenses) by third-party vendors.
  • Act as the primary liaison between third-party vendors and business units to ensure compliance with state and local regulations. Identify, review, calculate, and maintain provisions with support from the audit manager.
  • Review monthly tax accruals for accuracy, collaborate with accounting teams to reconcile tax accounts, and build strong relationships with business units
  • Conduct annual nexus analysis, update registrations as needed, and prepare projections for indirect tax accruals and payments.
  • Support ERP system design and implementation for indirect tax, ensuring compliance, enhancing efficiency, and minimizing risk. Identify and implement tax planning opportunities.
  • Research, document, and stay updated on sales/use tax issues, maintaining documentation in line with SOX requirements. Ensure proper processes are in place to collect and audit sales tax exemption certificates for compliance.
  • Participate in managing tax audits related to indirect taxes. Respond to correspondence & inquiries from auditors and tax authorities resolving outstanding issues
  • Supervise, mentor, and train analyst on state and local tax projects, and provide meaningful feedback and professional development opportunities

Requirements

  • 3-7 years of experience in indirect tax within a large corporate and/or public environment
  • being able to work under critical time constraints showing excellent analytical, organization, planning and communication skills.
  • Vertex experience (O series preferred)
  • Knowledge of US Indirect tax laws/regulations
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or similar areas. CPA or CPA candidate preferred
  • Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively

$110,000 - $150,000
