Job Description

Primary Location:

Worland, Wyoming

DOT Transportation Clerk: Performs administrative duties supporting activities related to the shipping of finished goods. Licenses and registers all equipment used in the transportation of cargo to ensure compliance with the Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. Manages preparation and maintenance of records for merchandise shipped. Handles routine questions and problems and maintains open communication with other departments throughout the shipping/delivery cycle.

  • Communicates in person, electronically, and over the telephone with Supply Chain Analysts, Routers, Drivers, Customer Service and Brokers, internal customers, various departments as needed.
  • Perform administrative duties such as data entry, time keeping, correspondence, filing, requisition of supplies, routing functions, and other clerical services.
  • Prepare documentation for permits or license and ensure compliance with policies.
  • Makes suggestions for improvement in efficiencies, productivity, and workflow of the office duties. Set up and maintain filing system for confidential records, correspondence files, and reports.
  • Systematically retains, protects, retrieves, and disposes of records as directed. Support and perform day to day activities for assigned fleet delivery driver teams.
  • Assists team members in finding and securing revenue generating loads and backhauls. Assist with conduct research into issues pertaining to fleet functions as requested.
  • Remain current on routing software and distribution center route optimization.
  • Other duties may be assigned by the immediate supervisor or other supervisor at any time.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associates degree or equivalent; or two or more year's related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate with others effectively to receive and provide needed information effectively.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Understanding of and ability to calculate figures and amounts such as commissions, proportions, percentages, discounts, and interests.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral,diagram, or schedule form.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Use of accounting, database, spreadsheet, and word processing software, and conduct telephone communications in a professional manner.
