Summary:

Aerospace Manufacturing Engineer is to be responsible for the in depth understanding of all aircraft systems such as Mechanical and Avionic, to effectively orchestrate each phase of the aircraft production process from aircraft work order analysis through final product delivery. This knowledge is essential to efficiently perform duties such as sequencing the aircraft build cycle, managing production work instructions, tooling design, leading improvement initiatives, troubleshooting technical aircraft issues and representing the company with internal and external stakeholders.

Aerospace Manufacturing Engineers shall not only perform their own duties but also provide direct guidance to all other facets of the company, such as but not limited to Operations, Procurement, Material Planning, Program Management, Design, Quality, Industrial Engineering, with the aim to constantly facilitate the most efficient helicopter build cycle approach. Since the Aerospace Manufacturing Engineering Department controls all main outputs which other departments act on, it is critical to be familiar and to understand other departments processes and be able to interact with people of all levels within the organization.

Aerospace Manufacturing Engineer contributes to the design, manufacturing, and testing of aircraft and aerospace products. Studies proposed projects to assess safety and feasibility providing impacts to the involved shareholders. Evaluates new designs with regard to aerospace engineering safety of flight principles toward the achievement of customer requirements and cost optimization and reduction, this includes conducting research, coordinating with other programs for commonality and collaborating with purchasing/vendors to meet deadlines. Generates the master bill of material for new project complementing the designed one with all the necessary tooling to complete production objectives.

Aerospace Manufacturing Engineering is excellent in communication skill to work with other departments and external vendor to coordinate the production of sub-assembly and to explain blueprint requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze Company Work Orders to ensure the current and future aircraft configurations are planned and
  • Manage the cost to build the aircraft by performing a Make and Buy decision to ensure work is properly in/out-sourced based on opportunity/capability.
  • Long term production bill of material business plan establishment for five-year business lookahead activities
  • Define manufacturing capability for the manufacturing plant and coordinate with corporate Industrial Engineering and Facilities to design production layout.
  • Manage internal and external suppliers daily to ensure their planning and technical understanding meets the expectations as-set-by Manufacturing Engineering Department for the aircraft production master schedule.
  • Evaluate and validate inputs from design and programs organizations to create and maintain aircraft work instructions.
  • Analyze and resolve design conflicts between multiple design holders (TC and STC), providing resolution and feedback on design procedures.
  • Formulate and implement the aircraft build sequence with the ability to tailor it to specific customer requirements.
  • Floor support & feedback incorporation, work alongside operations technicians and management to mitigate issues and ensure a proper understanding of all aircraft as-built plan and relevant work instructions.
  • Design cable harness and cable layout for all the product lines produced in the manufacturing plant
  • Apply lean manufacturing principle to the workflow.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in Aerospace, Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
  • 3 - 5 years of work experience in an Aerospace environment or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of FAA certification requirement and procedure, EASA is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Aerospace Mechanical, Flight Controls, Communication and Navigation system Engine, Hydraulic and Fuel Systems is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, good informatic skills, program management skills
  • Able to work independently with minimal directions.
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing a plus
  • Knowledge of Italian or Polish a plus
