CPNDR is part of the St. Jude Pediatric Translational Neuroscience Initiative, which aims to integrate basic, translational and clinical research to better understand and treat rare pediatric neurogenetic conditions. The Mefford lab research performs bench-to-bedside research focusing on genetic epilepsies and neurodevelopmental disorders. In this position, the candidate will collaborate on or lead projects to create and characterize patient-derived or engineered stem cell models, including 2D and 3D neuronal lines for disease characterization and treatment using precision therapy approaches. Depending on experience and interest, the candidate will participate in a range of projects in the lab employing state-of-the-art genomic, epigenetic, disease modeling and precision medicine approaches.

Qualified candidates will be proficient with primary and stem cell culture, iPSC and/or organoid propagation, and a wide spectrum of molecular, biochemical, and cellular assays. A strong background in molecular and cellular biology, developmental and stem cell biology, and neuroscience is required; experience with single-cell RNA-seq is preferred.
