Posting Summary |
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Research Specialist for Summer Session.
Among the key duties of the position are the following:
- Gathers data points that serve and inform the Office of Summer and Winter Sessions' mission.
- Gathers, analyzes, and creates responsive data sets and reports for all office programs.
- Supports the office's work through implementing weekly data compilation and analysis of various university data sets related to course offerings, enrollment, tuition, and student analysis as well as providing program end data and data visualizations for each program's Impact Reports.
- Ensures data quality and integrity when preparing and analyzing data sets and creating data visualizations.
- Understands the mission, vision, role, and goals of the unit.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- Bachelor's degree.
- Two (2) years of work experience in higher education environment with a focus on student/course data and analysis.

Certifications/Licenses |

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities |
- Proficiency in all Microsoft applications, particularly Excel.
- Knowledge and experience with complex data sets.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong oral and written communication and organizational skills.
- Abiltiy to work in a demanding, fast-paced, and ever-changing environment and demonstrate sound judgment based upon expertise and experience.
- Ability to work both independently and as a collaborative member of a professional team.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Masters Degree, Employs a design thinking agile approach to problem solving.
- Three (3) years of work experience in higher education environment with a focus on student/course data and analysis.

Equipment Utilized |
- Microsoft Office with a heavy emphasis on Excel.
- Knowledge of Tableau, data driven software tools, and university data systems.

Physical Demands and Work Environment |
- Prolonged sitting, repetitive motion of typing and mouse use and high level of focus for long periods of time.
- Work environment is in-person based on the current FOW guidelines.
- During peak work time, evening and weekend hours may be required.

Immunization Requirements
Under Policy 100.3.1 Immunization Policy for Covered Individuals, if employment will commence during Flu Season, Rutgers University may require certain prospective employees to provide proof that they are vaccinated against Seasonal Influenza for the current Flu Season, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption.
