Position Summary

Sealed Air is seeking an Equipment Applications Engineer who is a technically strong, gifted innovator capable of fostering strong relationships with customers and across our organization.

In this role, you will navigate the dynamic landscape of the food packaging industry to collect and leverage customer feedback; ensuring that our equipment meets the highest standards of success in the field. This individual will also be responsible for engaging with equipment and materials teams, field support, sales, customer service, and supply chain to ensure new and existing products continue to meet the high standards of Sealed Air Corporation. Job Description

  • Provide automated equipment support to internal and external customers. Validate developmental solutions related to supporting custom automated options.
  • Provide equipment application support for Sealed Air packaging equipment via phone, remote access, or field visits and conduct root-cause analysis to provide technical documentation that enables data-driven business decisions.
  • Provide technical solutions to customers, external vendors, field representatives, and the broader Innovation & Development organization through on-site customer support and visits to other Sealed Air facilities.
  • Provide electrical and mechanical troubleshooting for all aspects of industrial machines, integrated accessories, and communications.
  • Development and conduct accelerated machine life cycle tests.
  • Evaluate new material and system designs through rigorous testing and an understanding of critical customer's needs while working within a team environment to address real world problems.

  • Interfacing with machines through HMI's and setting parameters for equipment operations.
  • Create and conduct technical training; assist in the development of training materials, project management schedules, and equipment manuals. Provide equipment demonstrations.
  • Develop and lead factory acceptance tests to ensure requirements are met and manage installation start-ups.
  • Provide field support on-site at customer facilities for new equipment installations and for field testing of developmental equipment.
  • Support Engineering equipment design and new technologies testing during development.
  • Support remote access installation and troubleshooting.
  • Work with machine design engineers to development new packaging machines, add new features to existing machines, and make upgrades to existing machine
  • Flexible travel domestically and internationally, at least 30%

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Strong self-motivation and problem-solving initiatives to collaborate with teams located in different locations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience creating data-driven reports to communicate technical ideas
  • Experience with data analysis and relevant software is desired
  • Ability to effectively present concepts and ideas
  • Experience managing multiple tasks, often with competing deadlines
  • Professional, highly motivated, reliable, and solutions-orientated
  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills and a work ethic that corresponds with Sealed Air's core values

Skills and Experience

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience working with industrial equipment
  • Ability to design and set up prototype lab testing, then manage data-driven reporting
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings and schematics
  • Understanding of various mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical components
  • Ability to work independently, as well as, in team environments
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office products
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to communicate technical ideas and concepts
  • Good decision-making, time management, interpersonal, computer, and organizational skills
  • Professional attitude; self-motivated and disciplined to produce quality work
  • Ability to lead projects
  • SolidWorks experience is preferred
