Personnel Security Specialist

This position requires an active TS/Sensitive Compartmental Information (SCI) clearance and the ability to pass additional security checks by US Dept of Treasury

The Personnel Security Specialist will assist with investigative and administrative actions needed to ensure all personnel who require access to information are efficiently and effectively processed for the appropriate security clearance and/or SCI eligibility prior to granting access to Treasury information.

Compensation & Benefits:

Estimated Starting Salary Range for Personnel Security Specialist: $80,000.00 to $93,000.00

Pay commensurate with experience.

Full time benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, and other possible benefits as provided. Benefits are subject to change with or without notice.

Personnel Security Specialist Responsibilities Include, but are not limited to:



  • Schedule appointments and/or service walk-in for PIV Activations, Enrollments, Certificate Updates and PIN Resets
  • Print and/or Mail PIV Credentials in accordance with established procedures
  • Process and/or verify access requests for Main Treasury Complex and Treasury-affiliated facilities
  • Perform and/or assist with Lock and Key Issuances
  • Send Daily Appointment Schedule to Access Control Unit Staff and USSS
  • Primary lead on answering email inquiries for all things related to PIV credentials and access control matters
  • Track accommodation requests for remote personnel with credentialing needs
  • Initiate and track background investigations and periodic reinvestigations for non-sensitive, public trust, and national security positions. The Contractor will ensure completeness of the security questionnaires submitted via e-QIP submitted to OSP for a background investigation. The Contractor will provide technical assistance as needed to individuals completing their security questionnaire via e-QIP
  • Review derogatory and/or conflicting information from personnel security investigations; report and seek immediate additional information to clarify questionable or discrepant information from the Government Program Manager, particularly when potential derogatory information becomes known on personnel that affects their continued eligibility to sensitive and classified positions
  • Provide information regarding requirement for personnel security investigations and clearances, interpretation of personnel security regulations, and adjudicative guidelines to customers
  • Prepare and maintain spreadsheets tracking his/her case status of new applicant, contractor, and federal employee files
  • Evaluate, validate, and determine the sensitivity and risk designation for positions within the Treasury Departmental Offices in accordance with Title 5, Code of Federal Regulations, Part 1400 (5 CFR 1400) and as described by management on need-to-know principles; implement procedures and criteria for determining the sensitivity and risk of positions; and determine whether special investigative requirements apply
  • Provide accurate and analytical establishment, maintenance, review, receipt, accountability, transmission, reproductions, storage, safeguarding, and destruction of collected personal history, case files, data entry, records, files, document scanning and image conversion, and reports according to policy and procedures
  • Assist with requests and administrating the indoctrinations of Treasury personnel into the Treasury security clearance and SCI programs
  • Develop, review, and maintain In-Processing and Out-Processing administrative duties
  • Immediately report to the Government Program Manager when potential derogatory information becomes known on personnel that affects their continued eligibility to sensitive and classified positions



Personnel Security Specialist Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:



  • High School education required, Bachelor's Degree desired.
  • OPM Essentials of Suitability Adjudication.
  • Desired certifications:

    • Personnel Security Adjudication certifications (ex: DoD, ODNI)
    • Due Process Adjudication certifications (ex: DoD, CDSE, ODNI)
    • Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC)

  • Must have an Active Top Secret/SCI Clearance.
  • HSPD-12 PIV card operating experience.
  • Minimum 3 years due process & writing experience.
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.
