Overview

This position will work primarily at Harvard High School and support events at Mercyhealth Sportscore.

This position has a $5,000 sign on bonus!

Evaluates physical conditions and advises and treats athletes to maintain maximum physical fitness for participation in athletic competition by performing the following duties:


Responsibilities

  • Performs assessment of injury or condition and takes appropriate follow up steps to ensure safe and proper care
  • Prescribes routine, preventive and corrective exercises to strengthen muscles, increase balance and improve flexibility
  • Provide practice, game/event coverage for assigned area
  • Respond to medical emergencies and provide assessment, stabilization and first aid
  • Make recommendations for athletic participation and return to sport guidelines
  • Complete accurate documentation of assessment and referrals
  • Refer athletes to physician for continued care per protocol
  • Perform manual techniques and utilize taping and bracing to relieve symptoms and improve function
  • Collaborate with sports medicine providers, physicians and other allied health professionals
  • May work in a clinic setting with physician or under the direction of a physical therapist

Education and Experience

Graduate of an accredited school of Athletic Training


Certification/Licensure

Licensed as an athletic trainer in IL
Approved CPR or BLS certification required within 90 days
BOC certification
Maintain a valid driver license and reliable transportation with proof of vehicle insurance when requested
Have/maintain an acceptable driving record per Mercyhealth HR-01-Fleet Safety policy

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, and crouch; talk and hear. Occasionally climb/balance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
