DEVELOPMENT COACH COMMUNITY SERVICES DIVISION *THIS IS A FULL TIME POSITION WORKING 40 HOURS PER WEEK WITH FULL TIME BENEFITS LOCATED IN RTIS, PAYING $18.50 PER HOUR. * POSITION DESCRIPTION: DEVELOPMENT COACH /COMMUNITY SERVICES DIVISION Melwood's Vision: A world where people with disabilities are fully included Melwood's Mission: Melwood Advocates for and empowers individuals of disabilities to transform their own lives through unique opportunities to work and play in the community. The position of DEVELOPMENT COACH provides job retention services to assigned individuals receiving Supported Employment services. The DEVELOPMENT COACH will work with Supported Employment staff to ensure that the individuals served received services outlined in their individual plan. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Work with assigned individuals to implement their Individual Plan within the supported employment program providing job retention and training support.* 2. Inform the Supported Employment staff and other interdisciplinary team members on behavioral and programmatic issues that occur.* 3. Provide services as outlined in Individual Plans -ensuring goals are developed, implemented, and progress benchmarks are being met.* 4. Demonstrate positive behavioral management techniques and communicates with individuals in a person-centered, age appropriate manner.* 5. Complete progress notes, daily logs, timesheets, individual planning activities and other documentation thoroughly, accurately and in a timely manner.* 6. Facilitate individual's self-esteem through positive interactions and building a relationship of trust.* 7. Facilitate off site job coaching for individuals in community placements as required. Job coaching may include assistance for the new employee in learning their job, identifying on the job natural supports, and assistance for the business in learning how to manage their new employee.* 8. Attend and actively participate in required training, stakeholder team meetings and supervision meetings.* 9. Other duties as assigned. SUPERVISION EXERCISED None. SUPERVISION RECEIVED The incumbent is supervised by the Job Retention Coordinator. PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS Flexible schedule will be required due to varying hours. Must be able to stand/walk 50% of work time, sit and/or drive 50%. Must be able to lift, carry, push and/or pull 60 pounds; this may vary depending on the job of the person supported. Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and reach. All of these requirements are necessary in order to supervise and assist individuals with disabilities. QUALIFICATIONS H.S. Diploma or equivalent required and three (3) years' experience Bachelor's degree in special education, therapeutic recreation, psychology or related field and previous experience working with people with disabilities or other behavioral issues preferred. Must be certified in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid. Demonstrated ability in providing support in a respectful manner that meets the various needs of individuals served. Due to the nature of the position and the varying needs hours may vary in order to provide the best support to individuals served. This position may require use of your personal vehicle to transport persons served. All Melwood transportation policies must be followed and liability insurance on your personal vehicle must be in full force and effect while transporting for or on the behalf of Melwood. Melwood will reimburse for mileage pursuant to the Travel policy. Must be able to pass a DOT physical. Behaviors
