INTRODUCTION The Landscape Foreman is responsible for the supervision and coordination of activities of the workers engaged in the daily operation of landscaping activities, and the performance of contracts in a professional manner including loading and unloading of equipment. RESPONSIBILITIES *1. Works with and supervises a crew of grounds workers at assigned work site(s). *2. Provides normal care of lawns, shrubbery, trees, walks, parking areas and fence lines. *3. Follows precise schedules prepared by supervisor for cutting, fertilizing, liming, seeding, and application of herbicides, pruning, etc. *4. Observes and reports any signs of abnormal development in lawns, shrubs, trees, etc. *5. Maintains records of attendance and work hours for each crew worker and processes time and attendance. *6. Performs duties in accordance safety rules, regulations, procedures, and/or instructions. *7. Notifies supervisor immediately of any workers' injury on the job. *8. Ensures daily maintenance/operation and storage of equipment and assigned vehicles, including proper handling and cleaning. *9. Assists workers with problems, appropriately referring and refer matters to supervisor or counselor. *10. Attends staff meetings as required. *11. Performs other duties as assigned. *Essential Functions SUPERVISION RECEIVED The Landscape Foreman is directly supervised by the Landscape Manager. SUPERVISION EXERCISED The Landscape Foreman supervises all workers at assigned site(s). WORKING CONDITIONS Mainly work outside. Working conditions are subject to extreme temperature and weather conditions. Work conditions may be inconvenienced by dust, dirt, fumes, or flying objects (grass). PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS The incumbent must be able to stand/walk 95% of the work time and sit 5% in order to inspect grounds properly, check equipment, and to complete paperwork and grounds tasks, such as, pruning, spraying, and riding mowers. He/she must be able to lift/carry 60 pounds and push/pull 100 pounds, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach and handle, all requirements, necessary for loading and unloading materials and equipment, and for planting, cutting trees, and pruning. He/she must be alert to safety hazards and have a method of communicating, so those around can respond and understand; must be able to see and tell colors, as this is necessary to drive equipment, inspect groundwork and perform grounds tasks. QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma plus 2 years at an accredited college with and Associate of Arts degree in Horticulture plus 1 year experience as a gardener and 1 year experience as a supervising gardener; or high school diploma plus 6 year experience as a gardener plus 1 year experience as a supervising gardener; or high school diploma plus 3 years vocational training plus 3 years experience as a gardener plus 1 year as a supervising gardener.
