Secure Residential Therapist

Come join a team of dedicated and compassionate staff at a 16-bed state-of-the-art Secure Residential Facility in Essex, Vermont. You will play an essential role in the delivery of person-centered treatment to adults with severe mental illness.

This position will be responsible for providing individual and group psychotherapy to the residents of River Valley Therapeutic Residence and will have a caseload of approximately 7-9 residents. This will include providing psychoeducation, and supporting individuals with skill building, coping, and processing. This position will be a key member of a multidisciplinary team and will participate in treatment team meetings, will assist with evaluating and developing clinical programming and collecting outcomes data. Additional duties will include completing psychological assessments, developing detailed behavioral interventions, providing expert testimony in court, and offering clinical support and training to facility staff.

Mission:
The River Valley Therapeutic Residence (RVTR) aims to improve the health and well-being of Vermont's most vulnerable populations while focusing on psychiatric rehabilitation services and psychosocial treatment delivered in a recovery oriented, trauma informed, person-centered, holistic environment. The program offers a safe space to focus on recovery and community integration for those individuals no longer needing hospital level of care but who are not yet ready to transition back to the community. Duties are performed mainly in either an office or clinical setting at a state-operated facility, designated hospital or community-based services program. Direct interaction with residents who are identified as having major mental illness, behavior management support needs, and may be at risk of harm to self or others. Duties typically occur within a normal workday and workweek, but emergencies and other exceptions may occur.

Master's degree in Psychology, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, or Social Work AND two (2) years of clinical experience as a Master's level professional in the fields of psychology, mental health, or social work.

Licensed clinician for the State of Vermont

Licensure or eligible for Licensure within six (6) months as either a Psychologist, Clinical Mental Health Counselor, or Social Worker in the State of Vermont.
