Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a Configuration DevOps Engineer to join the Defense Travel System (DTS) program located in Herndon, VA.

The Defense Travel System (DTS) is an online travel management system for the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD). Its primary mission is to streamline and automate the process of planning, authorizing, booking, and reimbursing travel for DoD personnel. It enables users to book transportation, accommodations, and rental cars while ensuring compliance with DoD travel policies.

We are seeking to identify highly motivated and qualified individuals for various future opportunities. In anticipation of these opportunities becoming available, completing, or updating your profile will allow us to evaluate your qualifications and interests and will allow us to stay connected.

This professional will work closely with the development and configuration management teams in supporting new application launches, monthly releases, and automated deployments. We want you to bring your creative ideas from every facet of information technology and computer science, including information exchange, transfer and retrieval, security, and interface and system design to help us build and roll out world class technology solutions. In this role, you'll work collaboratively with software and system engineers to deploy/operate our systems: automate and streamline our operations and processes: and build and maintain tools for deploying, monitoring and troubleshooting issues in our development, test and production environments.

    Must be US Citizen, and have active/current DoD Secret clearance, and ability to obtain a Common Access Card.
  • This is a remote opportunity, but you must reside in the U.S. to be considered.

This person will:

  • Support the program's configuration management processes and procedures
  • Be responsible for scheduled releases in development, test and production environments
  • Coordinate and collaborate with other departments in various release activities including the execution of the application deployment plans and checklists, to ensure comprehensive, precise and timely release deployment
  • Maintain releases and manage key information such as build and release procedures, dependencies, and software and configuration baseline
  • Obtain sufficient understanding and knowledge of applications, to be able to support verification and troubleshooting after releases
  • Implement and support IT infrastructure and various processes for DevOps operation in cloud and on-premises environments
  • Participate in selecting, deploying and maintaining appropriate CI/CD tools; Support and enhance build and deployment processes through automation using a combination of existing tools, new tools, and enhancements
  • Identify ways to improve lifecycle processes and efficiently communicate with software engineers, QA engineers, and operations staff on schedules and priorities
  • Update system documentation and standard operating procedure


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • BS with 5 Years IT professional experience, MS with 3 years, 0 years with a PhD, or 9 years in lieu of degree
  • Must be US Citizen, and have active/current DoD Secret clearance, and ability to obtain a Common Access Card.
  • This is a remote opportunity, but you must reside in the U.S. to be considered.
  • Understanding of version control systems including branching and merging strategies
  • Understanding of critical concepts in DevOps and Agile principles
  • Five (5) or more years of configuration management and DevOps experience in an Agile environment
  • Five (5) or more years' working experience working in Linux environments
  • Strong scripting skills in Bash/shell, Python, or similar languages
  • Five (5) or more years' working experience with automation tools such as Bamboo, Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD and Ansible
  • Five (5) or more years' experience with build automation and deployments as well as validation techniques and methodologies
  • Willingness and flexibility to work evenings and weekends occasionally in support of deployments
  • Proven experience communicating across a large team with a variety of technical backgrounds
  • Security+ certification, or ability to obtain one within 3 months after on-boarding

Target Salary Range

$104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
