Johnson County Mental Health is hiring for a Parent Support Specialist to work in their Family Focus program. This position provides support to parents of children, ages 4-18, with severe emotional disabilities (SED). Support is provided in both a one-on-one and group setting with the goal of maintaining severely emotionally disturbed children in the most natural, least restrictive setting possible. Responsibilities also include completing required documentation; planning and facilitating groups; functioning as part of a treatment team by attending regular team meetings and providing support to others; providing resource referrals; leading teaching interventions; and handling crisis interventions. This position is also responsible for transporting clients on a regular basis. Application review will begin on November 25th. Job Description * Conducts assessments of individuals' background and applicable circumstances to identify needs and/or determine service eligibility; interprets and communicates relevant information to individuals, families, and other stakeholders. Job Requirements Minimum Job Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Human Services or related field and a valid driver's license with acceptable driving record required. Johnson County Government requires reference/background screening for all positions. Specified criteria may vary by Department/Agency. Preferred Job Requirements: One year of related work experience is preferred. Education/Experience Substitutions: Experience may be substituted for degree. Education may be substituted for experience. In some instances, statutory or regulatory requirements may prohibit substitution of education and/or experience. Physical, Environmental, and Special Working Conditions: All County employees may be called upon to assist other departments in a declared emergency situation. |
