Primary Purpose:

This is a Regional Manager position that provides environmental and regulatory compliance support to facilities across the Central United States. This support includes permitting and filings, as well as regulatory approvals and compliance associated with chemical distribution that touches almost every sector of business around the globe. The candidate will also develop and implement strategies that provide continuous improvement of the environmental compliance program. This position works collaboratively within a team of health & safety and quality professionals and across the organization to support overall organizational goals and objectives.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead environmental compliance for multiple facilities within assigned region
  • Prepare and submit licenses, registrations, permits andregulatory compliance reports
  • Serve as regional contact for regulatory agencies
  • Help facilitate and implement new environmental compliance systems and tools
  • Lead and support internal EHS audits. Assist operations in addressing audit recommendations and corrective actions
  • Maintain knowledge of all applicable corporate, local, state, and federal regulatory requirements
  • Serve as SME for an environmental program. Develop and lead national program, provide training, write explainers, and provide guidance across the organization
  • Lead and participate in incident investigations and corresponding corrective actions
  • Provides guidance on emergency response and security
  • Responsible for waste minimization and pollution prevention
  • Participates in and provides guidance for acquisitions, mergers, and special projects
  • Participates in community outreach programs and supports company sustainability programs
  • Takes lead role in company's Responsible Care and Responsible Distribution initiatives

What You'll Need:

  • 4-year degree in Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, or related subject
  • 5+ years of practical experience with environmental and regulatory compliance, preferably within the oil & gas or chemical distribution industry
  • Thoroughly familiar with all major federal environmental programs (CAA, CWA, RCRA, FIFRA) and DOT hazardous material regulations. Specifically in federal and/or state air permitting programs, Tier II reporting, hazardous waste management and reporting, and Toxic Release Inventory (TRI). Familiarity with DEA and Department of Homeland Security CFATs program is a plus
  • Ability to travel up to 25%
  • Demonstrated ability to handle federal, state, and local regulatory compliance at numerous facilities in multiple states
  • Experience with developing and implementing an environmental management system (ISO 14001) is a plus
  • Proven leadership and teamwork skills with demonstrated abilities to both work collaboratively and influence those with whom no formal hierarchical relationship exists
  • Demonstrated ability to be a trusted business advisor, developing action plans and making recommendations rather than simply completing when asked
  • Excellent problem solving techniques and quantitative, analytical skills
  • Ability to prioritize and handle a sophisticated workload and projects in a fast paced environment
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
  • Experience with SharePoint, SAP is a plus
  • Strong work ethic and initiative
  • Highly adaptable, self-motivated with a desire for continuous learning and improvement
  • Meticulous attention to detail
