Technical Services Manager

Primary Purpose

Responsible for management of location or onsite relating to collection, storage, transportation and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste and materials. Supervise and train all employees to ensure all scheduled jobs are completed. Maintain and adhere to pre-established standards for safety and environmental procedures/processes.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities



  • Ensures Health & Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times.
  • Ensures compliance within division of federal and corporate safety policies; conducts regular safety meetings; provides health and safety plans for job sites; designates personal protective equipment specifications for each job.
  • Manages field projects; keeps clients apprised of progress; addresses any technical questions.
  • Provides regulatory information to clients and project managers; maintains records required by regulatory agencies; keeps apprised of all pertinent regulations.
  • Complies pertinent facts and technical aspects of projects into report form. Uses technical knowledge to create proposals.
  • Supervises technical service staff.
  • Participate in hiring, performance evaluation, disciplining, promotion and termination decisions.
  • Responds to customer inquiries by phone or in writing regarding waste approval, disposal and pricing; responds to new customer inquiries about company and Technical Services.
  • Provides Technical Assistance to Sales group. Attends Sales Calls.
  • Prepares and approved billings, tracks internal and external costs

Education: Four year college degree or equivalent required. Science Major preferred.

Experience: Minimum of 3 years' experience in the environmental services industry required.

Knowledge and Abilities: This is a safety sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function. Thorough knowledge and understanding of all federal, state and local laws and regulations pertaining to the Environmental Services industry. Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate with internal and external customers. Strong Proposal Writing Skills. Ability to wear personal protective equipment, including respirator. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this job.

A post offer drug screen will be required.
