Job Summary:



The University of Colorado's Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology is seeking to hire a gastroenterologist to serve as an IBD specialist.

As an important member of the CU Medicine Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, the physician will clinical responsibilities including outpatient clinic/endoscopy, inpatient consult attending/endoscopy, and teaching duties.

The successful applicant for this position will be someone who communicates appropriately and effectively with patients, staff, consultants, and colleagues, has outstanding customer service skills, and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Evaluation and treatment of patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD):


    • Outpatient IBD consultation and management
    • Inpatient IBD consultation


  • Performance and interpretation of IBD-related endoscopic procedures:


    • Screening and surveillance of IBD dysplasia, including chromoendoscopy
    • Pouchoscopy
    • Endoscopic balloon dilation of strictures
    • Interpretation of capsule endoscopy studies


  • Participate in citizen requirements of division and section including, but not limited to:


    • Teaching GI fellows on general GI and IBD consult services
    • Presenting at GI grand rounds




Work Location:



Onsite - this role is expected to work predominantly onsite at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. This role may evolve to include onsite work at other UCHealth facilities, including but not limited to Highlands Ranch Hospital, Lone Tree Medical Center, Cherry Creek Medical Center.

Qualifications:



Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Assistant Professor:



  • Applicants must hold an MD degree. Applicants must be board-certified or actively board-eligible in Gastroenterology.
  • A State of Colorado medical license and DEA license must be obtained on or before hire date.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Completion of an IBD Fellowship or at least 2 years of IBD-specific clinical practice experience
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records, such as Epic
  • ACLS and BLS certification

  • Excellent communication skills to interface with learners, faculty, healthcare teams, administrators, community organizations and donors

  • Skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods, and techniques of medicine to provide ongoing patient care.
  • Skill in taking medical history, assessing medical conditions, and interpreting findings.
  • Skill in preparing and maintaining records, writing reports, and responding to correspondence.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients and their family members, medical staff, and the public.
  • Ability to maintain quality control standards.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

$100,000-$300,000

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
