Job Summary:



The Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Colorado, Anschutz Medical Campus is seeking applicants to fill a faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in the area of retinal ganglion cell regenerative medicine. The successful candidate will join the department's broad research team and work closely with CellSight, a cross-disciplinary team of investigators working in a highly collaborative environment with the common goal of developing novel stem cell-based therapeutics to treat ocular diseases.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Develop a vibrant and productive research area that complements current focal areas within the department.
  • Establish a competitive extramurally funded research program.
  • To actively collaborate with other research teams in the department, such as the CellSight program.
  • Contribute with their expertise to programmatic efforts to develop regenerative therapies for blinding diseases affecting the retina.



Work Location:



Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.

Qualifications:



Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.



  • Qualified candidates will have PhD and/or MD degree.
  • Post-doctoral experience to establish an independent research program competitive for extramural funding.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Retinal ganglion cell and glaucoma biology.
  • Animal models of glaucoma.
  • Advanced glycation end products and their effects on glaucoma.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:



  • Retinal ganglion cell and glaucoma biology.
  • Animal models of glaucoma.
  • Advanced glycation end products and their effects on glaucoma.
  • Research interests should include mechanisms of retinal ganglion cell neuroprotection and transplantation.
  • The ideal candidate would be successful in balancing their own independent research program while contributing to ongoing programmatic efforts to develop regenerative medicine approaches to treat blinding diseases.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong mentoring and/or teaching skills.

Anticipated Pay Range:



The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

$110,000 to $115,000

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
