Position Overview:

The position will play a critical role in supporting the Chief Revenue Officer/ SVP in the strategic development and operational execution of the organization's mission, as well as in managing the Board of Directors and Board Committees. This position requires an individual who is an exceptional organizer and communicator, as well as a strategic thinker capable of managing complex projects and driving organizational initiatives forward.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary point of contact for Board members, addressing inquiries and providing support as needed.
  • Coordinate Board and Committee meetings, including scheduling, agenda preparation, and follow-up on action items.
  • Facilitate orientation and training for new Board members to ensure they are well-informed about the organization's mission, governance, and operations.
  • Develop and distribute Board and Committee materials, including meeting minutes, reports, and other relevant documentation, ensuring clarity and consistency.
  • Maintain accurate records of Board activities, decisions, and governance documents, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • In partnership with executive and senior leadership prepare materials and reports for Board and Committee meetings, including agendas and minutes.
  • Coordinate Board retreats, social events, and other engagement activities to strengthen Board cohesion and commitment.
  • Monitor Board member participation and engagement levels, providing regular updates to the executive team.
  • Prepare assessments and evaluations of Board performance.
  • Support the Chief Revenue Officer in managing key workflow and deadlines to ensure projects are completed on time and effectively.
  • Manage budgets across the Business and Program Development Unit, coordinating the approval of expenses, reviewing and approving contracts/bids, and reconciling revenue with accounting for earned revenue streams.
  • Support the review and development of effective governance policies and practices.
  • Support the President and CRO/SVP in strategic planning processes and manage the process for developing annual strategic priorities.
  • Oversee other special projects at the request of the CRO/SVP.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Non-Profit Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Ten plus years of experience in a leadership role within a non-profit organization or relevant field.
  • Proven track record of managing complex projects and driving organizational change.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Passion for the mission of the Chicago Council on Global Affairs and a commitment to making a positive impact in the community.
