Logistics Planner

Primary responsibility is to schedule and dispatch milk from farms to processing facilities. Functions include communication with customers and haulers regarding milk deliveries, updating loads in an on-line scheduling program, creating and maintaining spreadsheets related to order and delivery tracking, and participation in weekend and holiday rotation, as well as some evenings on call. Use tools available, such as optimization software, handheld devices, and asset tracking to aid in efficiencies and cost control. Monitor production and order trends.

• Take customer orders and record in the on-line dispatch system
• Schedule and dispatch milk shipments to meet customer needs
• Primary hauler contact for scheduling and dispatching milk routes
• Audit hauler compliance with schedules
• Monitor the progress of deliveries from the origination at the farm to delivery to the customer

• High School diploma
• 2 or 4 year degree in business or logistics preferred
• Background in transportation coordination or customer service preferred

• Must possess excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
• Knowledge of and skill with Microsoft Office Suite and company computer systems, including dispatching software, SAP, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Must be a problem solver able to analyze situations, determine solutions and execute answers for a positive result.
• Must be flexible and able to multitask with strong attention to detail.
• Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Must be able to work rotating schedule, including a weekend every 3-4 weeks, some holidays and some evenings on call.
