The business unit thyssenkrupp Dynamic Components is one of the leading automotive suppliers and development partners for highly complex drivetrain technologies. Around 3,500 employees produce 27 million drivetrain components a year at ten locations in Germany, Liechtenstein, Hungary, China, USA, Brazil and Mexico. Your responsibilities

The Quality Assurance Supervisor is responsible for the development, supervision, coordination, and maintenance of the Dynamic Components Danville quality assurance program. Through established standards and customer specific requirements, this role is responsible for meeting company objectives, facilitating continuous improvement, and achieving total customer satisfaction. Three priority areas of focus include supplier quality, internal process quality, and customer product quality. This position requires a strong commitment to safety.

Supervisory Responsibility:

The Quality Assurance Supervisor provides leadership, mentoring and supervision of the quality assurance team which includes supplier quality, audit management, quality planning, product quality, process quality and customer support to ensure compliance with overall company objectives while achieving overall customer satisfaction.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, a successful candidate will be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a technical field required with 5 years of experience in Quality and/or Engineering field. Experience in automotive preferred.
  • Language: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, OEMs, or employees of organization.
  • Technology: Working knowledge of IATF 16949, APQP-PPAP, FMEA, MSA, 8D, Statistics, GD&T and mechanical manufacturing processes.
  • Travel: Occasional travel, up to 10% including international.

Key Deliverables:

The Quality Assurance Supervisor serves as an engaged and trusted source in the organization. Success in this role is measured by prevention of customer complaints, internal scrap reduction, and maintaining positive Customer Scorecards, through the development and promotion of the zero defects concept at the plant. Key deliverables to ensure success are listed below:

  • Maintains a safe working environment by complying with all safety and environmental policies in the workplace. Advocates for and promotes a safe work environment by reporting Near Misses and/or other safety and environmental hazards, wearing all required PPE and encouraging others to do the same.
  • Has authority to stop processes to correct quality, safety or environmental problems, identify and place suspect product on quality hold, and to promptly notify Supervisory personnel when processes become noncompliant.
  • Promote and teach quality assurance and zero defects philosophy to other departments
  • Provides direction to Product Quality Engineers to ensure customer requirements are addressed.
  • Investigates complaints and responds to the customer in high level circumstances or when Product Quality Engineer needs support.
  • Monitors quality assurance objectives complementary to company policies and goals.
  • Monitors and supports change of operational procedures and documentation for serial production.
  • Develop and implement quality programs, including tracking, analyzing, reporting, and problem solving of serial production activities.
  • Supporting the collection of reporting to analyze and summarize quality data and making recommendations to management team.
  • Identify risks and weakness in production processes, support root cause analysis and propose solutions.
  • Provide direction in developing Control Plans, subsequent inspections, frequency and sampling plans, acceptance criteria and validation testing.
  • Provides support for process-related corrective action implementation, quality-related production documentation, studies and activities necessary to increase control and lower cost of poor quality, implementing and validating Poke Yoke/Error Proofing methods, and internal complaint activities.
  • Generates improvements and updates to process flow, control plans, and PFMEAs to all assigned SQDC Areas, coordinates the change.
  • Provides direction for scrap reduction activities in serial production.
  • Leads/Supports Six-Sigma projects as needed.
  • Oversees internal deviation activities.
  • Works in coordination with production and quality control teams for disposition of suspect product.
  • Provides support for Production Part Approval Process activities as needed.
  • Provides technical and process direction to Manufacturing, Production, and Quality Departments.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Supervisory personnel have been delegated the responsibility and authority to add additional inspection steps necessary to ensure product quality when processes become noncompliant.
