Dematic Corporation is now hiring a Regional Field Service Technician. Under the direction of the Field Service Manager, this position provides service and repair and service and maintenance training for installed Dematic systems and equipment. As the Dematic representative in the Customer's facility, this position is heavily responsible for maintaining customer goodwill toward Dematic. The primary objective is to ensure that Dematic systems have the greatest availability possible for customer use and that customers are satisfied with their Dematic system and equipment. This role can be based anywhere throughout North America, preferably by an airport for travel. Overtime and occasional weekend work may be required. What we offer:

The base pay range for this role is estimated to be $28 to $33.50 an hour at the time of posting. Final compensation will be determined by various factors such as work location, education, experience, knowledge, and skills.

Tasks and Qualifications:

What you will do in this role:

  • Participates in semi-complex equipment trial runs, investigative tests, repairs, and overhauls.

  • Participates in training customers on semi-complex products and services.

  • Performs semi-complex maintenance on tools, test equipment, etc., and maintains documents of all inspections, maintenance and repair work, and failures.

  • Participates in responding to semi-complex service calls.

  • Participates in assessing the performance of semi-complex products/equipment based on field support data and recommends modifications or improvements.

  • Performs semi-complex work within the technical or paraprofessional areas.

  • Effectively identifies problems as they occur and takes appropriate steps to solve them in situations where the problem is not difficult or complex.

  • Refers to complex, unusual problems for others.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Trade school graduate or two-year Associate's degree in a mechanical, electrical, or mechanical technician program. Bachelor's degree in engineering preferred.

  • Two years (minimum) experience in troubleshooting electromechanical and/or mechanical equipment. The successful candidate must have some work experience with material handling equipment. Service experience with

  • Automatic Guided Vehicles (AGV), Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (AS/RS), or conveyors are highly prized.

  • The candidate must be willing to travel on short notice and spend more than 80% of the time traveling. The candidate may be continuously away from home for as long as a month (offer travel expenses).

  • Must be willing to be available during off hours and travel accordingly.

  • Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and off shifts.

  • Must be able to act calmly in stressful situations.

  • Must be able to write concise, clear, and complete trip reports in the time frame required according to Dematic procedures.

  • The candidate must have knowledge of using personal computers for word processing, database functions, and communications. Understanding personal computer hardware setup and software configuration is required.

  • Working experience with troubleshooting Programmable Logistic Controllers (PLC) is required.
