I. JOB OVERVIEW


Job Description Summary:
The Cisneros Hispanic Leadership Institute draws on the intellectual strength of George Washington University and the resources of the nation's capital to cultivate citizen scholars and innovative research focused on the Latino community. The Institute's research examines current issues facing our country to encourage diverse perspectives in national dialogue and decision-making. At the same time, the Institute's robust leadership and professional development curriculum prepares scholars to make a difference as leaders for their communities.

The Assistant Program Director is responsible for supporting the strategic design and implementation of programming for the Cisneros Hispanic Leadership Institute and its affiliated projects. This role works with Institute leadership to raise the profile and awareness of the Cisneros Institute with the community and key stakeholders, as well as to lead outreach for its initiatives and programs, such as the Caminos al Futuro Pre-College Program and Cisneros Scholarship. This role is the primary point of contact with GW and CCAS media relations and external stakeholders wishing to connect with the Institute and its work. In collaboration with Institute leadership, the Assistant Director is responsible for developing and executing the strategic plan for the Institute. This role is additionally responsible for developing and maintaining the Institute's websites, social media, and public-facing materials.

Strategic Planning and Execution
Support Institute leadership by contributing to the development and implementation of a strategic plan aimed at raising the Institute's profile, increasing awareness of initiatives, and ensuring mission cohesion across multiple programs and projects. Execution of this duty includes advising on and implementing best practices, current trends, and evidence-based approaches for culturally competent engagement across platforms.

Events
Lead and maintained the institute's event planning, including three signature event series, co-sponsorship opportunities, and public-facing promotion of Institute research. This role is responsible for ensuring the execution of events for sponsored projects in alignment with gift requirements and brand consistency.

Outreach and Engagement
Serve as the primary liaison to university and external media offices concerning the promotion of Institute activities, organization of events, and research amplification. This engagement includes efforts to pitch and promote research, distribute press releases and op-eds, and coordinate with government and nonprofit partners to ensure collaborative materials meet the required standards for publication.

Development
Collaborate with Institute leadership to develop campaigns and materials related to engaging new donors; work with the university and CCAS DAR to develop reporting materials as stewardship for existing donors; in collaboration with the university CFR team, support the development of program-specific materials for corporate and foundation requests.

Social Media/Website
Manage the scheduling and management of social media channels, produce or supervise the production of content for all social media channels; oversee engagement with follower questions, comments and posts. Design and maintain structures and content for Cisneros Institute and Cisneros-owned websites; Oversee and serve as publishing approver for public-facing writing, such as blogs and press releases. Maintain email subscriber distribution lists and databases. Track, analyze, and report on social media metrics, email engagement, and web traffic.

Management
Supervise graduate and undergraduate student employees as relevant for producing materials related to Institute programming. Propose and oversee budgets for initiatives and events.

Performs other work-related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties logically related to the position.
Minimum Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 2 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master's degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
