JOB SUMMARY

Project design and direct coding of applications for clients; develop software applications to solves problems in the humanities; interaction with global partners.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Standards compliance and cooperation (Web Annotation, JSONid, Rest, IIIF)

  • Back-end coding (database connections with Java, MongoDB, and SQL)

  • Middle end coding (API development, scripting languages, http/https); server operating system and shell scripting (Windows, RedHat Linux, Ubuntu)

  • Front end coding (html, css, java, php); standards compliance and cooperation (best Web Annotation, JSONld, Rest, IIIF)

  • Research and analysis of current front end scripting languages (javascript, python, nodeJS, angularJS, JQuery, php)

  • Research and analysis of current database modeling and standards (MongoDB, SQL)

  • Proof of concept and prototyping of project software

  • Internal communication with Center staff, and external communication with clients (faculty, students, other institutions)

  • Server operating system and shell scripting (Windows, RedHat Linux, Ubuntu)

  • Performs other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science

  • Two to five years experience in application production

This position is being funded by NEH digital humanities advancement grant, therefore continuation in this position is contingent upon funding availability or anticipated to end on 12/31/2026.
