Roles & Responsibilities:
- Provides leadership for the DBA team, identifying work priorities and ensuring effective communication within the team and with external partners/collaborators.
- Creates a balanced interpersonal and team-oriented environment.
- Customer service minded and develops and maintains cordial, effective partnerships with business area and other Services employee-partners.
- Ensures business area satisfaction with regular interaction and by handling expectations, understanding service level expectations and delivering solutions in a timely and cost-effective fashion.
- Supervises vendor performance and contractor resources and ensures they are performing competently, and that client is receiving services aligned with contractual terms and conditions.
- Ensures standard methodologies are followed for the delivery, implementation, and maintenance of client DBA by team members and contractors.
- Apply critical thinking and project management in your day-to-day tasks and when planning resources and workload, using various tools and techniques. d to DBA infrastructure.
- Work with the business areas to establish and consistently assess their perception of service level delivery, finding solutions for any gaps.
- Ensure appropriate resources are in place to meet delivery expectations.
- Ensure appropriate training, knowledge-transfer takes place to meet these expectations.
- Monitor, and provide effective supervision of, contractor/consultant service delivery and service billings to ensure they are accurate, and that performance continues to align with statements of work.
- Collaborate and work optimally with other IS teams/resources in delivering required solutions.
- Communicate unambiguously and listen effectively, ensure organizational messages are delivered in a timely way to team members, that issues and concerns are addressed and foster open communication among team members.
- Support team members in their professional growth by providing mentorship and feedback, acknowledging achievements, and addressing areas for improvement when necessary.
- Ensure team alignment with standard DBA practices/policies.
Required Qualifications:
- 10+ years of related experience, including management and operation of enterprise DBA services and DBA infrastructure.
- SQL DBA - Admin core task - must for all level

- Checking health of SQL server a. checking sessions details
- Checking error logs
- Build logins & users and fix any issues
- Knowledge on databases, Objects and DMV.
- Supervising & fixing alerts
- Database Backup & Restore - must for all level
- SQL Job creation and fixing any failure - Must for all level.
- For L2/L3 level: Database encryption, SQL Server Patching, SQL Server upgrade / Migration, Understanding SQL Server performance (Checking Blocking issues, Checking Deadlock issues, Query tunning, Index maintenance).
- Strong knowledge on High Availability - L2/L3 level

- Always-on AG
- Solid understanding on SQL Server Replication - L2/L3 level.
- Linked server issues fixing SPN & Delegation - L2/L3 Level.
- MS Azure (Iaas) working knowledge is a plus.
- Understanding & writing T-SQL, PowerShell scripts, Azure SQL.
Salary and Other Compensation: Applications will be accepted until December 31, 2024. The annual salary for this position is between $ 99,000.00 - $ 116,000.00 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program and stock awards, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
