Principal Embedded Software Engineer

Tampa Microwave is a leading manufacturer and supplier of Manpack & Fly Away satellite terminals designed and built for the expeditionary user community to guarantee communications connectivity in the most austere environments. Tampa Microwave primarily serves Federal and Department of Defense markets.

We are seeking to fill a Senior Embedded Software Engineer position located in our Clearwater, FL location. This position reports to the Software Engineering Manager.

Responsibilities:

• Develops Linux-based application software in C for SATCOM products.
• Uses git-based software repository tools.
• Troubleshoots issues involving hardware, networking, or application performance.
• Documents new software projects or features in a Software Design Specification.
• Works closely with other Engineering disciplines to resolve technical issues.

Qualifications:

• U.S. Citizenship Required.
• Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or Electrical Engineering.
• A minimum of fifteen years embedded software application experience in C (Linux-based and/or microcontroller-based).
• Network programming fundamentals (sockets, TCP, UDP, SNMP, HTTP, VLANs).
• Experience developing with git (Bitbucket preferred).
• Experience with Atlassian tools.
• Fluent in the English language- written and oral.
• Ability to comply with all Company guidelines, policies, procedures and embrace Company's Core Values.

Preferred but not required qualifications:

• CI/CD experience including Test Driven Design.
• Network+/CCNA certification.
• Security+ certification.
• SATCOM troubleshooting experience.
• Yocto-based development experience.
• Modern object oriented (C++14 or later), Python.
• Master's degree.
