Primary Purpose: Provides leadership to the Operations Technicians and Sr Operations Technicians for the safe and efficient operation of the power plant. This position is responsible for the management of operations staff, which includes the management of shift, vacation and overtime schedules, training and development coordination, as well as the coordination of efficient and coordinated flow of information to the operation crews and between the operation crews and management. The position also manages the facility's daily operation to ensure the safety of the environment and plant personnel through the oversight of plant safety and training programs and ensuring all plant operations are in compliance with all permits, laws and regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership, communication, and staff support in directing all facility Operations activities including employee training, schedules, personal goals and evaluations.
- Respond to emergency calls after hours as necessary.
- Ensure environmental and safety excellence, and promote continued compliance with all environmental and safety programs, permits, regulations, and requirements.
- Promote, implement, and monitor programs to ensure reliability and availability of plant equipment
- Manage and direct the PPM (procedures and policies manual).
- Act as Operation Manager in areas of Plant operations and regulatory compliance in manager's absence.
- Recommend, review, and develop value-added capital projects, such as equipment upgrades and replacements.
- Lead all training efforts including safety, system training and career development for plant operators.
- Promote team building activities and employee development programs.
- Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties)
Required Qualifications:
- H.S. Diploma/GED
- 5 or more years Related experience required. Operational knowledge of power plant equipment, and systems, principles of rotating equipment and appropriate safety procedures. Must have demonstrated knowledge of the operations function of a combined cycle power plant as well as demonstrated knowledge and understanding of a multiple unit operation.
- Computer skills: MS Office-Word and Excel or similar software, SAP.
- Ability to effectively lead a team.
- Excellent communication and networking skills.
- Strong reading, math, and accounting, analysis skills.
- A solid ability to analyze and improve operations tasks, as well as make timely decisions to benefit the business.
- A demonstrated skill in planning, coordinating and directing various programs, tasks and projects directly effecting the overall plant operation.
- Must be able to work irregular or extra hours and under unusual and special conditions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Supervisory experience with a thorough understanding in generating plant operations, gas turbines and generating equipment highly desirable.
