JOB SUMMARY Works under immediate supervision to assist physical therapists in providing patient care by performing assigned work tasks in areas of patient treatment and activities, patient transportation, and facility maintenance. Responsible for performing established patient care routines, assisting in patient treatment by preparing and positioning patients, transporting patients to and from physical therapy sessions, and maintaining facilities and equipment in clean and orderly condition. Will assist with retrieving patients from the lobby, assist with setting up equipment and treatment, cleaning and sanitizing tables and equipment, help with some paperwork filing and faxing as well as communicating with referral sources on occassion. JOB DUTIES
- Performs established patient care routines such as local wound care involving removal of bandages, cleaning of wound, redressing, skin care, routine passive range of motion, supervision of routine active and resistive exercise programs performed by patient, gait maintenance and practice, and tilt table programs.
- Applies and removes specific modalities such as hot packs, paraffin, and traction units.
- Assists physical therapists in patient treatment by preparing and/or positioning patients for treatment as directed, assembling required supplies and equipment and getting patients in and out of hydrotherapy tanks and whirlpools.
- Provides assistance to patients with respect to their personal needs such as dressing, bedpans, and urinals.
- Transports patients to and from physical therapy sessions as requested by physical therapist or physician.
- Cleans facilities and equipment, including hydrotherapy rooms and equipment.
- Assists in ordering and record-keeping of expendable supplies, such as linen, crutches, canes, paraffin, wound supplies, etc.
- Performs variety of miscellaneous duties such as picking up and delivering hospital charts and records, relaying messages, delivering schedules, etc.
- Duties performed may include one or more of the following core functions: a) Directly interacting with or caring for patients; b) Directly interacting with or caring for human-subjects research participants; c) Regularly maintaining, modifying, releasing or similarly affecting patient records (including patient financial records); or d) Regularly maintaining, modifying, releasing or similarly affecting human-subjects research records.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
